The Citi Dividend 5% categories have been released for the second quarter of 2025:
- Grocery
- Travel booked through Citi Travel
Grocery category is always nice, though it does overlap with Discover. We’ll have to wait another few days to find out what the Chase Freedom categories will be.
Citi is different than the other cards in that you have a $6,000 annual cap rather than a $1,500 quarterly cap. You can get 5% back on up to $6,000 in this quarter, you can save the entire amount for a different quarter, or you can use part up each quarter.
This offer starts within two business days of when you enroll, or April 1, 2025, whichever is later, and ends on June 30, 2025 (the “offer period”). During the offer period, you will earn an additional 4% cash back on hotels, car rentals, and attractions (excluding air travel) when booked through the Citi Travel® site at CitiTravel.com or by calling 1-833-737-1288 (TTY:711) or purchases at Grocery Stores. Your total annual (calendar year) cash back is limited to $300 and includes additional cash back earned in connection with this offer.
Citi Travel Purchases: Excludes air travel purchases. Eligible transactions include hotel, car rental, and attractions only and must be booked through the Citi Travel site at CitiTravel.com or by calling 1-833-737-1288 (TTY:711). Citi Travel is powered by Rocket Travel by Agoda.
Grocery Stores: Includes purchases at supermarkets, meat/seafood stores, dairy stores, bakeries, and miscellaneous food/convenience stores. Excludes purchases at general merchandise/discount superstores; wholesale/warehouse clubs; candy, nut and confectionery stores. Purchases made at online supermarkets or with grocery delivery services also do not qualify if the merchant does not use supermarket merchant category code.

Is it possible to convert this card to one that earns TYP? Or does citi only allow TYP-earning cards to be converted to other TYP-earning cards?
(I don't use the Dividends 5% categories much anymore, since I usually have other cards with similar categories, with rewards that are worth a little more or easier to redeem.)
I originally PCed 1 of my TY cards to 1 of my Dividends so I would guess that you could do it the other way around.
They closed the card due to lack of spending this month, anyone been able to successfully reopen this card after it was closed by Citi?
That's a shame. I have a reminder to spend $5 once a year, and thats enough to keep it active for over a decade.
Why aren't any of the 5% quarters attractive to you?
That's a shame as it's a great card!
How long was it dormant?
I had a balance dividend cashback balance of $80+ from last 3-4 years (they don't mail the check unless it is $50 so I was waiting to accumulate) and in Jan it dropped to $10. I called them and they say the balance needs to be cashed out before the end of each year and they changed the terms a couple of years ago. So, I asked them how come it kept accruing for last 3-4 years and then the supervisor and some overseas rep said that he will open a case. I got a letter in a few days saying that I have had to cash out before the end of the year. Anyone else faced this and is there any recourse other than opening a CFPB complaint? Thanks!
Was your card inactive for 12 months? My understanding is that the rewards form the Dividend card expire after 12 months of purchase inactivity.
Anyone know if Citi offers stack when payed with Paypal?
Great card to keep in the sock drawer. Only used when a good quarter comes up like the current Amazon.
Hoping for restaurants on the Chase Freedom Flex for 7x points!
Sucks you cant product change to this anymore
@Shawn I can't believe Citi hasn't killed this card yet.....they haven't taken new apps in years for it.
Like the AT&T Access More Card?
only for old timers like me. Still have 2 and only used when a good category comes up. There was a time I never used it for years! I had these cards from 2014. Also 1 of my Div cards has the 4% S&S offer. Sweet.
I got my Dividend sort of by mistake, and it's been awesome.
In the early 2000s Citi had an online-only card for internet shopping, with no magnetic strip, just numbers. Does anyone remember the name? Eventually they killed that product and replaced them with Dividend. Maybe I had one of the first accounts?
P.S. I bet the S&S Citi offer will come back in Q2.
Except that S&S offer expires 3/31.
thanks. Good to know. I did not realize....
Thankfully Shiti gonna shiti and they keep this card alive. I can only imagine that cardholders maximize every dollar. This card has to be a money loser.
I sure do on both of my Dividends. 😀
Everybody wants one 😂
