Citi Prestige Bonus Officially Lowered to 40,000 Points (50k Point Links Still Available)

Citi has updated the sign up bonus on their Citi Prestige card to 40,000 points after $4,000 in spend. Previously the offer was for 50,000 points after $3,000 in spend within three months of account opening. You can still use this link: https://www.citicards.com/cards/credit/application/flow.action?app=UNSOL&sc=4KMZ13A6&m=315D111111W&B=C&ID=3131&naInd=M to get the higher 50,000 point bonus but I suspect that Citi will remove this link in the near future (never hurts to take a screenshot or two if you do use that link).

It’s also worth mentioning that this card will be losing Admirals Club lounge access on July 23rd, 2017. It’s still pretty good value in my opinion at 50,000 points, even with the $450 annual fee ($350 with Citigold – basically offset by being able to get the air travel credit of $250 twice as it’s per calendar year). You might find the following posts helpful to maximize the rewards on this card:

Another thing is that this 40,000 point application page shows as 40,000 points being worth $800 in American Airline flights, this is almost certainly a mistake as these points were previously worth 1.60¢ each and 50,000 points at 1.6¢ = $500. This isn’t the first time that Citi have had issues of this nature, they previously made it appear that this card would earn 3x on gas as well.

Can someone send another link to the 50K offer or a link to a screenshot such that I can call a CSR?

Does the 50,000 offer link you provided still include AA lounge access and the free golf rounds or did it get gutted from that offer already too?

I believe that new cardholders will get the benefits until the same date the old cardholders get it, but I can’t guarantee it. (I got such an implication from a conversation with Citi, but no official word.)

Anyone knows if buying a gift card on airline’s website qualifies for the $250 credit for airline?

It’s the opposite. They are gutting the 1.6 cent AA redemption and all airlines will redeem at 1.25 cents. No longer worth keeping now IMO.

I had heard/read that all airlines will be redeemable at 1.6 cents with this new variation, not just AA – is there any truth to this that anyone knows of ? That would definitely help offset the loss of the Admirals Club …

Well, the website now only says “Your points are worth 33% more on other flights compared to non-air travel when booked through the Citi ThankYou Travel Center”. It doesn’t mention 1.6x on AA, even it says “other flights”. Is that possible that 1.6x on AA is also lost together with the lounge, as they are probably in a same contract?

Sadly this turns out to be true…
