Card Details

Our Verdict

Public bonus is currently 30,000 points after $3,000 in spend so this bonus is significantly better. A lot of people won’t be eligible for this card due to the 24 month language (more on that here). You can also get another 50,000 points by opening a Citi Priority Account Package at the same time  It might be worth waiting to see what changes Citi possibly make to the Prestige card before going for this bonus. As always make sure you read these things everybody should know about Citi credit cards before applying. I’ll be adding this to our list of the best credit card sign up bonuses.

If anybody has recently applied, try to get matched and let us know the outcome (unsuccessful data points in the comments unfortunately). That could be a work around for people with no branches nearby but from memory Citi won’t match.

Any idea when this offer expires? I’m debating whether to get this or another AA 65k next.

I just stopped by a Citi branch, and they have flyers there saying the offer is valid 7/1-9/30/2017.

I just got a 50k mail offer after 3k spent for this card applied online. Assume that is not a regular offer and I should jump on it?

Has there been any concenus/data points on whether or not a product change counts as a “close” regarding the 24 month language? Opened a premier in 5/15 and converted it a double cash in 6/16.

I have any also been looking to know if anyone has some data points. I opened Premier on 5/15 as well, product changed to TY Preferred 7/16 and then just recently went to double cash, 6/17 in order to start my 2 year window before another TY card (that appears to have shot me in the foot because I was told having the card open would disqualify me for another bonus…. so I thought changing the card would avoid CLOSING it… Citi has the worst CSR… well AMEX is sure vying for the lead usually though, lol)

Question regarding this…

I understand there is no consensus for this scenario. But assuming it does NOT count as a closure, if you apply and are approved for a new Citi TY type card, does that mean you are getting the signup bonus? Or is there a chance that you can be approved but will not receive the bonus since they counted it as a closure?

Make sense?

Thanks for the reply!

Approval does not guarantee bonus.

I’m in a similar predicament. I PC’d a TYPrem card in June but it won’t take effect until August. So I figure I’m okay as long as I apply this month.

My understanding is a PC counts as a close unfortunately.

Does “in branch” mean you have to go to a banker in the branch to apply, or is there a form in the branches that you can fill out and mail in?

I got Citi Premier around 2 years ago. Seems it is better to get another TYP card before closing my old Citi Premier . Can we get another Premier before closing existing one . Never had any issue with multiple Citi AA and Citi hilton cards .

It has been 23 months since I’ve opened or closed a TYP card, so this is perfect for me. Soon I’ll get this, and then probably downgrade my old TY Premier.

I just applied for the 30,000 TYP citi Thankyou Premium card and got approved. Can I match to the 50,000 TYP offer?

card was opened 34 days ago. I tried calling in for them to match the bonus offer. No luck.

So, since this one and prestige are in the same family… Does it make sense to get this over Prestige?

Great timing! It’s almost been two years since I picked up the Prestige. My plan was always to go for another TYP card before closing it, and this will do nicely.
