Our Verdict

Nice discount here for Costco members. Tangentially, there’s a great deal for new members to buy Costco membership via Groupon, details can be found in this blogpost.

  • It's a good deal if you use Uber, but read the restrictions so you don't get unpleasant surprises... i.e. you can use the gift card on Uber rides if they are reserved in advance. So if you are going to the airport, you need to request your Uber when you are ready to leave instead of reserving in advance.

    • I don't use Uber (rides) and it's still a good deal because you can use it on Uber Eats pickup order.

  • my order of uber gift cards keep getting cancelled what do I do ? i put my moms costco membership number under my email is that the reason thank you

    • You call Costco and go through lengthy verification over phone. Trust me, it's their fraud prevention system, I have multiple memberships and have gone through this bullshit every time.

Oh, do not accept "it's your card or billing information is wrong" excuse from rep.

  • Am I missing something but isnt the Uber Eats GC at Costco always @ $80? And last month it was available for additional $5 off?

Yes, they are best used on chain restaurants with same as in-store pricing for pickup. Basically 20% discount on Chipotle, local pizza chain, fastfood that upcharge but have promos bogo promos (like Popeyes). Junk food and fast food pickups mostly.

  • Just went to the Costco store and can confirm: they're no longer selling Instacart gift cards in-store either. They still sell DoorDash and Uber.

I'm going to shift my grocery spend more to DoorDash for now using DashPass.

  • Didn't you have a previous post about how Uber was charging more for rides where you used a GC?
