Anyone run into this using Cash App Tax for 2023.

I entered my 20+ 1099’s and everything seemed okay but when I go to review before submitting the taxes, I get the following as an error message:

“You can’t efile because the maximum number of Form 1099-INTs you can e-file is 20, which is set by the IRS. You can still print and mail in your return though”.

However according to the IRS:

“Starting in tax year 2023, if you have 10 or more Forms 1099’s, you must file the forms electronically and may be subject to penalties if paper forms are filed”.

I sent a service request and the response I got didn’t answer my this so sent them another request trying to get a more reasonable answer. Figure Cash App hasn’t updated their program to the latest IRS requirements but the weekend person responding doesn’t have a clue. Hopefully it gets passed to the correct people.

I had so many 1099-int last year, there was no room on the 1040 to list them. Cash App just left a few of them off but did include the correct total. Will this make a difference when filing my taxes? I’m guessing no one is going to manually check it. TurboTax would include an extra page listing the additional amounts.

I’m off to a rough start. Cash App Taxes is claiming my social security number does not match the cash app and not letting me proceed (but will gladly show me my 2020 tax return). Support told me there is no way to update SSN in cash app so I need to create a new account. I created a new account and it doesn’t even ask me for a SSN and gives me the same error, now just without the 2020 returns.

Filed ticket to Cash App, they said they couldn’t help me and to file a ticket with Cash App Taxes. Filed ticket with Cash App Taxes and they told me they couldn’t help me and to file a ticket with Cash App. Guess I’m going elsewhere.

“You need to reach out to a Cash App Representative to help you with that issue, I understand how contacting us may seem like the same thing but we are here to help you or anyone with the Cash App Taxes questions or issues only. Go to your Cash App go to your person icon in the top right corner tap it and then scroll down to support and submit a request for assistance with your social.”

I submitted my taxes last week and it was smooth sailing. No charge for Federal AND State. I would rate my situation as not especially complex but it does include capital gains and other basics. Highly recommend, in the past Credit Karma Tax return refunds were received via ACH within two weeks.

Cash App to Cash App payments are instant and usually can’t be canceled. … The recipient can also refund your payment. Ask them to: Tap the Activity tab on their Cash App home screen.

Cash is the best way to send money for free. Enter the code RSKXPBZ when you sign up and we’ll send you $5 when you try it.

I don’t have a cashapp account. Now, I have to create another account instead of using my existing creditkarma account in order to continue filing my taxes with them or can we use our creditkarma log in?

This has been a major pain getting logged in from a PC. I download the app on my phone, enter my email and phone number. I can sign into the app. I go to cash.app/taxes from my PC and sign in with my email address. It sends a code to my email, then it sends a code via text to my phone, I enter these and then it sends a link to my phone via text to activate the account. What a mess. I typed that link into the browser of my PC and finally got in, but I try later and have to go thru all of these steps again. Customer service has not helped me at all, they just send me generic links for help with taxes… So frustrating that I cant easily log in via a PC.

Or, instead of listing every service, just use the IRS website, click START LOOKUP TOOL, and find the ones that will be free for you.

https://apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile

This goes for the people who ‘shout out’ to one service…. when depending on your state or income level, might not be the best or free choice.

Myfreetaxes.com is not included. It is offered through the United Way. It originally was developed with the help of H & R Block. It is completely free for all income levels. Those whose income is $73K or below get redirected to TaxSlayer link to complete the return. Those over $73K, get redirected to Credit Karma’s Cash App link to complete the return. So technically, it uses existing programming from other e-file developers.

Note that Express1040.com, TaxHawk.com, and Freetaxusa.com are all the same company using different URL sites.

Update to previous post. Credit Karma Tax was sold to Square Inc (which renamed itself to Block) and renamed the tax prep software to Cash App Taxes.
