Discover Waiving Fees + Interest Charges For Active Military

We’ve covered the additional benefits credit card issues offer active military members in the past before (e.g annual fee waivers, great for cards with $995 annual fees). We thought that Discover only provided the benefits that we’re required under the SCRA, but reader Alex let us know that this wasn’t the case for him at least. Full e-mail below:

Discover waived all interest and refunded, yes refunded the last 7 years of interest I paid. In addition, I had 2 balance transfers that they refunded too. The process is as easy as logging into your account and uploading an LES.

Discover doesn’t have any cards with an annual fee, but it’s nice to see them refunding any interest paid. If you have a Discover card, have paid any fees/interest and are active duty give this a go and let us know how it goes in the comments.

I got my discover card after I was on active duty. I applied for SCRA benefits and they lowered my interest rate from 16.5 to 5.9% and refunded all interest I paid up to this point. It was about $2300.00!! Great customer service!
