Our Verdict

Standard bonus is $100, but it’s almost always possible to get $200 via a referral link. This is an extra $50 than normal. Just keep in mind that the $49 annual fee isn’t waived (it never is) so it’s more like a $201 bonus. Still a good deal considering it only requires spend of $500. The downside is that the 5/24 rule now applies to this card, so most readers won’t be eligible. Even if you are eligible it probably makes more sense to sign up for a different Chase card instead of this. For example the Chase Freedom Unlimited is currently offering a $200 bonus with no annual fee and if you have a premium Chase card then it’s actually 20,000 points and those points can be converted to Chase’s travel partners. I guess if you really value the Disney perks this card could make sense, but for most people it won’t. As always if you have any questions about Chase cards, read this post first as they are most likely answered there.

FYI  William Charles – The $200 via a referral link is for the No-AF version of this card (so not the Premier). Given the choice between $201 and $200, I’d take the $200 version as this is one of the easier cards to find people to refer in real life if you’re a Disney fan. When preparing for a Disney trip, A lot of people like the idea of 1) A Disney Card, 2) $200 back for $500 spend and the ability for them to then refer their spouse to the card too for $200 + $100 back for $500 spend.

5/24 applies to Disney cards now? That’s ridiculous. IMHO if you want to hit a 5/24 spot with a Disney card just do it on the no fee one. For $1 more the downgrade hassle isn’t worth it. If you do go for the premier version downgrade it, don’t cancel. It will become a no fee Disney & will help age your credit.

To add- another reason I’d go no fee is if you have a spouse or friend or someone you can refer. As far as I’ve seen there aren’t referrals for the Disney Premier but the no fee will pay $100 Disney Dollars per referral and the offer for the referee is great at $200.
And SouthFayetteFan is ON IT! I concur!!

5/24 apply to the basic version?

Personally I wouldn’t go for this one I’d go for the no AF version.

Why?

You get the exact same Sign Up Bonus for both when factoring in the AF. With the Non-AF version you can apply via a referral and give a friend or another reader on here $100.

Neither card is really a Daily Driver, and both have the same important benefits which are the Free Character Experience, and the 10% Cardholder Discount.

Even if I had the 2% in Disney Dream Reward Dollars on card purchases at gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants and most Disney locations, definitely not worth it.

Considering that’s only paid out in Disney Dollars it’s not a very good reason to use it at those places rather than a better rewards earning card.

Thus card can be helpful to spread out the cost of a Disney trip. Zero interest for 6 months on Disney resort charges. When a Disney trip can easily cost $7500 and way more for room, tickets and meal plan, it helps level out cash flow. Granted, if you’re taking a trip this expensive you shouldn’t do it on a loan, but I use it just to avoid putting too big of a drain on my checking in a single month. I wouldn’t sign up just for that benefit, but I find it useful.

With this card, you can use your Disney Rewards for air tickects. So if you have hundreds of dollars in Disney Rewards, e.g. from referrals of this card or the no annual fee version, it might make sense to apply (or upgrade to) this card.
