Online brokerage Dough will be closing down. They have sent out an e-mail to existing account holders stating that from October 11 you’ll only be able to close out existing positions and that on October 29 the brokerage will be closed.
We started dough to help empower a generation of investors to believe that taking hold of your financial future is attainable to anyone. We’re grateful that you’ve come along for the ride, and let dough play a role in your financial journey.
We wanted to advise you that dough will be ceasing operations as a broker-dealer, and all open accounts on Monday, October 11, will be set to closing-only going forward, which means you’ll only be able to close positions. We wanted to give you sufficient notice and inform you of your options before dough’s last day of business on Friday, October 29, so that you can plan your next steps for you to close your Dough account by either withdrawing any funds in the account and/or a transfer (“ACAT”) of any existing securities positions that remain in your account.
A lot of readers will have these accounts from the $75 sign up bonus. Might want to consider doing another brokerage bonus when transferring funds out.

Because of illness in my family I’m only now reconnecting to my life and found out that dough closed and I can’t access my account or funds. I saw dough closed. Have I loss my money? If not how do I access it?
I came across this while searching for the Douugh banking app. I better close out my stocks, I totally spaced out this app.
As Homer Simpson would put it, "DOH!"
I liked Dough, though I didn’t like that they were app only. I got some referrals, a $75 brokerage transfer bonus and some good Apple stock profits through them. Won’t be using tastyworks since I don’t like their UI much. Dough’s customer service was good and responsive. I even used my Dough account to trigger my One Finance referral bonus. I’ve sold and withdrawn everything to avoid fees and will let my account auto close at this point. Oh well, onto the next one.
Lucky of existing Dough customers to get grandfathered into free commissions on equity options at Tastyworks (otherwise $1 to open, $0 to close, capped at $10 per leg). The capped commission per leg is the difference maker if you trade a lot of options contracts. I've paid thousands in commissions so far this year. Tastyworks is solid.
My account was automatically closed by Dough because of inactivity, wonder if I'll still be eligible for the Tastyworks offer?
I emailed Dough about this and they said they can't reopen my account :(
Same here. I still went through for the Tastyworks transfer, lets see if that works for a closed account.
Special offer from tastyworks–our sister company
Did you enjoy trading commission-free for stock and equity options? Don’t want to give up the dough app? Well, our sister company, tastyworks, will grandfather the dough commission schedule to dough customers that transfer or open a tastyworks account before Friday, October 29. You’ll still have access to the dough trading platform by downloading the new dough by tastyworks app that is available to all tastyworks customers. We’re extending this offer to all dough accountholders that had an open account as of September 22, 2021, at dough that are new or existing tastyworks customers. For more information, please refer below: How do I transfer to tastyworks and get grandfathered into dough’s commission schedule?
Seems like an important bit of news from their website! @will @chucksithe
And that's why you should just be using a proper brokerage such as Schwab or Fidelity..
To be fair, Dough wasn't a very good app. They folded because they sucked. I used it only 7 times because the app always crashed. There are better "free" brokers out there
shut up
People probably got in on a sign up bonus or something.
Dough... Folded
Why is money called dough?
Because we all knead it.
OK, dad. :)
