Everything You Wanted To Know About Total Rewards Free Atlantis Stay (Updated For 2019)

We’ve updated this post for 2019 as they have made some significant updates. For example the fine print does now state casino play is required ‘If you accept this offer and do not show any rated casino play, the Atlantis may charge you for some or all of your upfront complimentaries including rooms, food & drink, limos, etc.’. According to recent comments this hasn’t actually been enforced but it’s worth considering. Some other changes have been made as well (e.g off peak for Platinum now comes with $25 in slot play instead of a Casino pass)

For example Platinum members now get three free nights instead of just two and you no longer have to pay room taxes. There are also different tiers (e.g diamond 40k/80k and seven stars 150k and 500k) In addition they now have different offers depending if you stay during peak or off peak season.

One of the benefits of having Total Rewards Diamond and Seven Star status is that you can enjoy one complimentary stay at the Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas resort.

How To Become Eligible

There are a few ways to easily get Platinum status without spending huge amounts with Total Rewards.

  1. Total Rewards Visa Card comes with Platinum status after first purchase in the first year and you maintain it when you spend $5,000+ in subsequent years
  2. Barclaycard Wyndham $75 annual fee card gives you Wyndham Platinum status. You can match this to Total Rewards Platinum status.
  3. Veterans and active duty military members receive Platinum status.

F.A.Q

Can you use the benefit yearly or only once?

Update: You can basically do the benefit once yearly. They might not offer it again in 2020 but if they do you should still be eligible.

My understanding is that this benefit can only be used once. The wording reads: ‘Since Total Rewards members can book ONE Atlantis package through January 31, 2018, wait to reserve if you think you might qualify for a higher package level later in the year!’ I guess if/when they extend the promotion for 2018 you might be able to do it again?

Is there any casino spend necessary?

The fine print now requires casino spend. Stating “If you accept this offer and do not show any rated casino play, the Atlantis may charge you for some or all of your upfront complimentaries including rooms, food & drink, limos, etc.”

How Much Are The Fees?

Update: As of 2018 it looks like the room charges are now waived as part of this offer. Looks like you’ll still need to pay the resort fee and gratuity though.

According to this post on DEM Flyers you need to pay the VAT on the room rate and resort fees and there is a mandatory gratuity. Break down of fees is as follows:

  • $6.99 (room charge) + $4.88 (VAT) [No longer charged?]
  • Gratuity ($5 per person)
  • $3.74 (resort fee VAT)

For a total of $15.61 per night plus an additional $5 per person per night. You also have to pay the resort fee of $49.95, this includes the following:

  • Wi-Fi in guest rooms and lobby areas for up four (4) devices
  • Access to Aquaventure, a one-of-a-kind 141 acre waterscape
  • Access to the Fitness Center:  Up to 2 persons per day per room
  • Fitness center access entitles guests to complimentary use of the cardio studio, universal and free weights only.  Tennis, fitness classes and personal training sessions are not included.
  • Two (2) 12 oz. bottles of water daily per room.
  • Unlimited local phone calls
  • Access to the Atlantis Movie Theater
  • Resort Shuttle Service
  • In-Room Coffee and Tea
  • Casino Lessons

What’s It Like?

I have no idea, I have never been. I’d recommend reading this post by DEM Flyers. Food seems expensive.

Can you combine two bookings into one?

According to this comment you can.

Can I get this deal if I status matched/have zero tier credits?

Seems to be YMMV. For example:

  • Successful: 1,
  • Not successful: 1,

Our Verdict

As mentioned the DEM Flyers post on this is really fantastic. Personally I don’t really think this benefit is that valuable and I doubt I’d ever actually use it. Complimentary is deceptive when you start adding up all the fees and the high price of food in general.

Seems like Royal Towers is no longer an option for Diamond members, Their website lists Coral room and depending on which month you are going to, you can stay for 5 nights/4nights or 2 nights

William Charles – I just called. Apparently this is going to be renewed for 2020, but instead of the Royal tower, off peak will be able to stay at the Coral tower for having Diamond Status. Peak season will stay the same with the Beach tower.

I really hope this isn’t the new policy. We just did it and said it wouldn’t be worth it if it were Beach or Coral. I really hope it’s not the case.

If I sign up for founders Card and that gives Diamond status, does that count with no tier credits? I am Platinum via the credit card and veteran, but looking for what Diamond might offer above the plat on the trip?

One last question as this thread has been so helpful. How many people can the Platinum award be used for. I hate to go alone, and a friend has 2 kids and she cannot leave them at home, so other than the extra $5 a day gratuity that I read about, is there any problem bringing them along for 3-5 nights?

Anyone with recent experience on enforcement on 4 hour Casino Play waived?
I have upcoming stay coming for Christmas Week.
Also What is minimum bet requirement for 4 hour Casino play, if it is enforced?
I don’t think they will allow 4 hours of play on Penny Slots.
What is safe bet to play? Crap/Roulette/Slot Machines/BlackJack?
Is there way to track how many hours of play is left/completed?

Wondering why no one has recent answers on this. When I booked last month, they only mentioned playing for 4 hours. Nothing about rating play or how much or any minimums. Going early January.

Do they give you a card to track play like the Vegas casinos for slots? how do they track the 4 hours?

They give you a players card. My question is this, I have 2 reservations and I am gifting one to a friend. If for some reason I cant make it will my friend be able to check in without me? I will obviously call and add her as a second guest in advance. But I am wondering.

I booked back in the spring but had not received a confirmation email. Showing up next week and called the booking desk for my confirmation and the lady asked if I was told about the 4 hours minimum play and I said no. She sighed and then explained the requirement. In the email I received it is in the terms and conditions. I’m pasting them below. We are leaving today after our 4 days diamond status match comp. They don’t even ask about casino play or enforce. Our total rate was around $270 but ended up with $1134 bill because of the restaurant drinks etc. Food is pretty pricey and this was for two. I gambled for maybe 3 hours and asked them to take something off my bill but they said it wasn’t enough. So good with me but I do not know how do they calculate play time. They converted my 3 hours casino play to 1.5 hours. Don’t know why and how. But anyways don’t stress they don’t ask for anything or require you to play for 4 hours. Enjoy!

Just got back from our 4 casino comp nights and I did not get charged any room fees after gambling only 1.5 hrs. Granted I do bet $50/hand on blackjack so maybe the $ amount I bet in that time helped??? Not sure how they measure as I came out $450 in the green at casino. I did not use my $100 free slot play.
