Fluz App Review: Earn Cashback at Office Depot, Restaurants and more

Reader Sagan tipped us off to another card-link cashback app called Fluz. You earn cashback by linking a card within the app and shopping at partner retailers. Fluz runs on Empyr, says Sagan.

Office Depot gets 3.5% back. Baskin Robins gets 5% back. Then there are lots of local dining establishments.

No signup bonus, currently. They heavily advertise how you can make more money from your network of friends via referrals, it almost seems scammy the amount they push that angle. You can cash out to your bank, Paypal, or via their crypto.

If you signup, you can use my Fluz referral, though, honestly, I’m not sure it’s worth signing up other than for Office Depot. The restaurants on the platform are likely found on dozens of other card-link platforms with similar cashback rates.

I mainly wrote this post since I spent around half hour looking into the program based on reviews I saw claiming there’s cashback at top chains like Starbucks, eBay, and more. After downloading the app, I can’t find any online retailers in the program, and no retail chains, just local restaurants and Office Depot. Let us know if I’m missing them somewhere or if you find any other gems.

Any idea what back end they use? Plaid? Empyr? Something else?

Nevermind just saw Empyr…..

How much cash back at itunes?

It looks like they intend on adding national brands at a later point? The app itself *looks* promising, but we’ll just have to wait and see what becomes of it. Drop, Pei, and Hooch all offer sign up bonuses, so I wouldn’t be shocked to see something pop up down the road.

For now, I find it hard to justify using Empyr for it.

Is this in addition to Ebates and other deals? Does it work with gift cards?

Fluz claims they will report your cash back to the irs on a “1099 tax form” (misc I assume), which I believe is different from other cash back apps. This might be because of their “network” gimmick.

Thanks.. that’s what I needed to forget about them even though I probably wouldn’t get to $600 for the year. I guess at $599 you could just stop using them.

They will be glad to provide you with a 1099-MISC for any amount, however small. Just a guess, of course, but not a wild one.

Anybody successfully add a card? I tried and tried and tried using Amex, Discover and Mastercard. Nothing worked.

My local store is still called OfficeMax. Does that count for Office Depot cash back?

I added CIC card, but it states Easy Swipe offers aren’t available for international cards yet. So I am not able to add the OD offer to my CIC. Anyone else getting this message?

as of this morning, office depot no longer shows in the app. I could never get the office depot deal to activate anyway and my linked card didn’t trigger any cash back.
