FNBO Will No Longer Issue The La Quinta Returns Visa Card (Product Change To 2% Card On September 20th)

Update: FNBO has sent out a letter to cardholders to inform them that their card will be product changed to the First National Bank of Omaha BucksBack visa card on September 20th. Cardholders will be able to continue to use their La Quinta FNBO card until their new card arrives in October 2017. BucksBack has the following rewards structure:

A few weeks ago it was no longer possible to apply for the La Quinta Returns Visa Card online. I reached out to FNBO and they responded with the following:

Beginning in September 2017, First National Bank of Omaha will no longer issue the La Quinta Returns Visa® Card.  We will begin notifying cardholders of the change during the first week of August.

At this stage it’s not clear what will happen to existing cardholders and if another card issuer will be picking up the La Quinta Returns card portfolio or issuing a new card.

The only bank I have ever been declined a credit card in my entire life is the FNBO La Quinta and Best Western cards and that’s with an 800+ credit score from all 3 agencies and FICO. I like La Quinta and BW because they’re everywhere but without a credit card to earn points, give my business to Choice and Barclay’s instead.
While I know this may be difficult for some because of the change, I’m hoping they hook up with another bank.

I received the email below from La Quinta.

Dear,

Our card relationship with First National Bank of Omaha is ending effective September 19, 2017, at which time the La Quinta Returns™ Visa® card will no longer earn La Quinta Returns™ Points. You will be advised by First National Bank of Omaha on what will happen to your account after September 19, 2017.

Until then, please rest assured…
• You can still earn valuable La Quinta Returns™ Points for purchases with your card, as usual, up to September 19, 2017.
• The Points you earn will continue to be yours – you will not lose a single Point you’ve earned, including those you continue to earn through September 19, 2017.

If you have any questions, please visit LQ.com/CardFAQ for answers to frequently asked questions or call 1-800-Returns (738-8767).

We will continue to keep you updated as the Returns program continues to grow and evolve.

And as always, thank you so much for choosing La Quinta®.

Best regards,

That would be very interesting, given that BofA used to have some hotel cards years ago but then dumped them all, saying they didn’t want partner cards without annual fees. Choice Hotels had their credit card with BofA until this happened, then went to Barclay.

If you have another FNBO card, you can roll the limit if you don’t like whatever they convert this to.

They changed the Savingstar to the 1.5 CB card last year.

I would mention that also the LaQuinta status for every cardmember will be lost on Dec-31 this year… goodbye Elite status
