The Offer

Direct Link

Amazon Cash is a new program which allows us to add funds to an Amazon account in a retail store like CVS, Gamestop, Speedway, Sheetz, Family Fare and more. As part of the full rollout, Amazon has a special offer:

  • Get free $10 Amazon credit toward a future purchase when you add $20 to your Amazon account in-store using the Amazon Cash program

Simply get your Amazon Cash bar code (have it open on your phone or take a picture of it or a print out of it), have the store scan it using their scanner, enter the amount you want to add (e.g. $20) and pay as you normally would.

After you add $20 or more to your Amazon Balance using Amazon Cash, you will receive an email confirming that the $10 credit has been added to your Amazon account.

The Fine Print

  • Amazon Cash transaction must occur before 11:59 pm (PT) on July 31, 2017.
  • Offer only applies to products sold by Amazon.com (look for “sold by Amazon.com” on the product detail page). Products sold by third-party sellers or other Amazon entities will not qualify for this offer, even if “fulfilled by Amazon.com” or “Prime Eligible”.
  • Shipping charges and taxes may apply to the full value of discounted and free promotional items.
  • Offer limited to one per customer and account.
  • You will receive an e-mail from Amazon that indicates the dollar amount of the promotional credit and that the dollar amount of the credit has been added to your customer account.
  • Promotional credit expires at 11:59 p.m. (PT) August, 31, 2017.
  • Offer discount will be allocated proportionally among all promotional items in your order.
  • Unless an Amazon Gift Card is the stated benefit of the promotion, promotional codes (including those placed directly in accounts) may not be redeemed for Amazon Gift Cards.

Our Verdict

This offer is WAY better than the previous deal to get $10 in digital credit with a $50 load. This time, the $10 credit will be an ordinary Amazon promotional credit, not limited to digital items, and it just requires a $20 load. We will be adding this to our master post on ways to save money on Amazon.

Apparently, Amazon really wants us to try out Amazon Cash. And I’m more than happy to do so on my next CVS gift card run! You can even use credit card to load your Amazon Cash at CVS.

If you’re heading to CVS, keep in mind they are offering $10 off $10+ via curbside as well. Can’t be stacked but might as well maximize your visit.

I have twice bought gc without getting the $10 credit applied. Now I’m being told gc are not eligible. I thought I’ve used them for gc in the past, plus I see people commenting here they bought gc with them?
This has been a colossal time suck for $10 and I still haven’t gotten it.

Too bad I missed it… But can’t help but wondering, what’s the difference between loading $$ onto Amazon Cash vs Amazon gift card? Once u load the money onto Amazon Cash, it is essentially money tied to Amazon store (thus for future purchases), correct? I get it that it is the $10 free bucks this time around, but in general, what is Amazon Cash good for?

Amazon Cash reload just gives people the ability to add cash to their Amazon account if they don’t have a debit or credit card, similar to buying a gift card in store I guess but more secure and less fraud.

Oh, yeah, I keep forgetting that there are still people who don’t have any plastics, hard to imagine that when we are following your fun blogs everyday!

I meant to get this but missed it, but i’m not sweating it. i’ve learned with Amazon deals like this, they often bring it back, and you can only get it once usually anyway, so i’ll just enjoy it down the road 🙂

CVS register said ‘Cash Only’ but I used a credit card anyway and it worked.

Didn’t receive the $10 credit email after 10 minutes so I chatted with customer service and they manually added the promotional credit. On the checkout page, the $10 promotional balance appears as a checkbox under the “Your balances” section. I’m ordering one item for $17 and I can apply all $10 to the item.

Did all of this in the last half hour in CA. Still got about 5 hours left in this promo!

Same here – uploaded $20, no email with $10. Wondering why.

I used the chat option and the representative told me that I am eligible for the promotion and will receive an email within 24 to 48 hours with the $10 promotion details.

CVS refused to reload using credit card – their register showed cash only, in NJ.

Was able to reload with cc in NJ yesterday.

Anybody reloaded today? I went to a local CVS and reloaded with a prepaid rebate card and immediately got the “Funds were added to your Amazon Balance” email, but I didn’t get anything about a promo credit and I don’t see anything at checkout.

The fine print says: “Amazon Cash transaction must occur between 12:01 am (PT) on June 12, 2017 and 11:59 pm (PT) July 31, 2017” so I should be fine…

Customer service had no clue about the promotion. 33 minutes later, no help on the matter. Beyond frustrated. Will call again tomorrow.

If you do the chat or email option, try linking them the promo page so they know what you’re talking about. They gave me the $10 pretty quickly when I did that.

Update: I ended up sending a message to Amazon customer service and they gave me a $10 credit. Weird that it doesn’t seem to be working for people today…

The CVS in my area will not allow you to have the scan code on your phone. Has to be a print out according to the manager. Kept talking about fraud and checking accounts. Dude was an idiot. Very frustrating as there is no other participating retailer nearby.

That’s really dumb because it’s just a barcode. You can print it out using a computer, but the end result is the exact same thing. The manager was the cashier of the CVS near me didn’t bother me at all. I even used a prepaid rebate card that I wanted to drain the balance from because it was expiring soon.
