  • Giant/Stopandshop/Martin’s have an offer showing in their digital coupons. Purchase $250 in Visa gift cards & save $15 off your grocery store purchases

The Fine Print

  • Valid until 5/2/19
  • Must load digital coupon to card
  • Grocery order calculation excludes gift cards, alcohol, tobacco and any other purchase prohibited by law.
  • Offer can only be redeemed once.

Our Verdict

Remember to use your Chase Freedom card for 5x on up to $1,500 at the grocery this quarter, or use a card that earns bonus rewards at the grocery. Worth remembering that stop & shop employees are on strike at the moment as well.

  • My Stop & Shop in NY this past week pulled all the variable load cards for some reason. Only ones on the rack are $100 visas and MCs. Variable load AmEx cards remain on the rack. This is one of three local Stop & Shops. I have yet to check the other two.

  • Coupon for $15 towards groceries (IN SAME transaction) DOES work on variable load vgc's at Martin's. I used it to buy a $500 vgc. (purchased w/ chase Freedom) To address another question, there's no fuel points on this promotion/transaction)

  • Does anyone know if you can buy a $500 VGC? I would think you could but wondered if anyone has already purchased.

    • At Martin's & Giant, yes. They've had non fuel points promos on these cards before... (btw, neither on strike here in Virginia, a state notoriously hostile to any form of organized anything.... afaik)

Ordinarily though, vgc and mcgc of any stripe don't earn fuel points (at least in my experience at Martin's) unless so specially indicated.

will be trying this later tonight and report back.

    • I'll add a note about the strike. I'll leave it to readers to decide if they want to cross the picket line or not.

    • Bad form to whom? This is a site about miles/points. What if I side with the “evil” corporation and not with the ungrateful folks with paying jobs?

  • Do you have to buy the Visa gift card in the same transaction as the grocery purchase to get the savings?

  • Will the variable load cards trigger the offer? Thinking about minimizing the fee costs

  • Lol not crossing the picket lines for this.

Also this is kind of silly. With gas points I get like $30 in savings per card or more. So a net $23 minus activation fee.

With this you essentially get $8 in groceries if you subtract the activation fee.
