Gold Card from American Express for Ameriprise Financial – 25,000 Point Sign Up Bonus

Reposting because American Express has discontinued the standard gold card and might do the same for this card (haven’t heard anything about this).

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Receive a sign up bonus of 25,000 points after $1,000 in spend within the first three months of card membership on the Gold Card from American Express for Ameriprise Financial.

american express gold

Card Details

  • Annual fee of $160 is waived for the first year
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 2x on flights booked directly with airlines
    • 2x on U.S. restaurants
    • 1x on all other purchases
  • Access to The Hotel Collection

Our Verdict

This is the standard bonus on this card (never seen a higher bonus), not many people seemed to know about it in this reddit thread – so I thought I’d post. Ameriprise also offer a Platinum card with no annual fee for the first year but that bonus sometimes goes up to 25,000 so I’d personally wait for that. Being an Ameriprise client doesn’t seem to actually be enforced. Before applying make sure you read through these 19 things everybody should know about American Express credit cards.

Link takes you to the new Plat offer. Anyone else able to pull the Ameriprise Gold landing page?

I know this is an old post but I could kiss you. I had no idea this card existed and was bummed I missed out on the plain gold card last year waiting to clear to under 5/24. Auto approved.

I just got approved for this and it said welcome to Premier Rewards Gold. I thought it was a Gold charge card? Interesting…

Interesting, does it show you having a Gold Card or Ameriprise PRG when you log in online?

DOC, just want you to know that I applied for the Ameriprise gold card a week ago and received it yesterday. I checked today and the link to the gold card is gone from the Ameriprise website. I think Amex finally discontinued the product.

Anyone know if Amex would overnight this card for no fee?

Applied, went pending, checked status the next day and was approved. No emails or other notices sent. I’m way over 5/24.

For those insta-approved for the Ameriprise Gold, did you receive an approval email? I got to the approved splash screen, but not email yet.

I hopped on the bandwagon of extra 25k MR. MR is my most important and very useful transfer currency. Thank you.

I miss the days when you could just gobble up all these easy points without a care in the world. Now you have to ask yourself, “Is it worth the inquiry and tacking another number on your /24?”

(Sighs…closes out tab before temptation gets too great)

The only Chase 5/24 card I still keep opened is United because my 200k+ points will need the extra XN hop when the time comes. SW has been substituted by FlexPerk points and travel credits. I’m gamed out of 5/24 until the next recession hits and terms change yet am still flying high 🙂

Yeah, I may follow what you’re doing and just forget 5/24. Only thing is, I started getting rejected lately for too many inquiries, so I think I still need to wait a couple more months before considering this regardless.

Glad you were approved and got the 25k MR. Congrats!!

Thanks for the reminder on this one!

Auto approved at 745 FICO and 18/24 — love the points for the spend and no AF.
