Goldman Sachs Wants To Take Over JetBlue Card Portfolio

The WSJ is reporting that Goldman Sachs is in talks with jetBlue to take over the cobranded credit card portfolio that is currently managed by Barclays. Barclays currently has three years remaining on that deal and are eager to extend. Goldman Sachs has reportedly also approached other airlines, but most have five or more years to run on their existing deals.

This wouldn’t be the first card partnership Goldman Sachs has taken from Barclays, after they secured the Apple card and went after the GM card as well.

  • The only thing Barclays is good for is that beautiful grandfathered no-AF 2% Priceline card that offers over 3.3% back on general purchases when redeemed for statement credits against airfare and Priceline hotels.

Otherwise I completely agree, they are crap. I put a prepaid hotel on that card that ended up closing due to the pandemic and they were nothing but trouble. I had no issues with AMEX/Chase on sorting through similar issues.

  • I dropped the card in Feb 2019 a few months after Ben Baldanza took over JetBlue went into effect. Goldman Sachs isn't going to save an airline that lives off its pre-2019 legacy and has now been taken over by the same low quality service and high fees you see in his takeover of Spirit Airlines.

    • We sort of still are in the days when Barclays issued US Airways, in a sense, given that US Airways doesn't exist as such any more, but he been merged into AA (American Airlines). The US Airways cards turned into AA Aviator cards (when US Airways merged with AA) and Barclays still issues AA Aviator cards to this day. So that's the closest you can get to a US Airways card today, and Barclays still has it.

So that's very different from Jet Blue, which kept changing partners. US Airways kept changing ownership (before that, there was also America West!).

  • maybe this means you can actually get approved.
760 FICO, 6 figure income, no derogs, under 6/24
What's this, you have applied for another card this year?
    Denied: too many inquiries

    • Same here. Barclays sucks!! Almost 800 score no bad ever! Turned down. Foolish Barclays as Amex is giving me the Black Card.

  • Barclays cards are super easy to get and have low Min spend requirements. I wonder what happens with GS... are they gonna be easily churnable?
