Issue With Citi Easy Deals Selling Out Immediately

Currently there seems to be some sort of issue with Citi Easy Deals selling out immediately. For those that don’t know Citi Simplicity, Diamond Preferred cardholders get access to Citi Easy Deals where they have a discounted gift card each day. The popular/good deals have always sold out quickly but lately they sell out immediately and I haven’t heard of anybody actually being able to purchase them (some are still having success). It’s unclear why this is happening but hopefully it’s fixed soon (source: 1,2)

  • the My Deas tab disappeared for me today. My alarm went off and i weft to go get it, and no my deals tab there. tried searching and no luck, anyone else? side note i did go for the amazon card yesterday, got it into my cart, site crashed and didn't work again till 12:25, which meant my card was automatically deleted from cart and the card was sold out. very suspect

  • I have been able to get the deal everyday. Just set your alarm to 1 minute before the deal goes live. RIGHT when it hits the time, click on "my deals," and almost every time, I've been able to get it in my cart and get it. Use a watch with a secondhand so that you can see to the second when it reaches 12:00PM (or whatever time it is for you when the deal goes live). You have to get it within the first 3 seconds. I also had better luck with getting the deals on the APP rather than desktop. Hope this helps!

  • There's absolutely no way the the "new interests " are getting all these cards when those of us who've been getting them for quite sometime have barely snagged any since January 1. Something else is definitely going on. I'm starting to think they've purposely shut some of us down. How can this even be considered a card perk when they sell out in seconds and many of us aren't getting any. That's not a perk.

    • Any luck getting any 100%'s? I gave up trying for about 3 weeks or more. Today i tried the h&m one. I can refresh the screen at 1pm, click on the deal, but by the time i click on the "add to cart" button, it responds with the deal is sold out. I'm wondering if there is some other criteria for getting them. Like you have to login 15 mins or more before. Or navigate to the page via a certain way. In the old days, it used to think for a while when attempting to cart and say something like it's unavailable, or unable to add to cart. Now it almost seems like it is pre-determined that you aren't getting it !

      • Nope. I haven't been able to get a single 100% card since before January 1. I get the sold out message within seconds, every single time.

      • Guys (and gals)...we are toast. No need for any additional posts here. Any free $5 offer is going to be sold out IMMEDIATELY, let me repeat IMMEDIATELY. The few folks on here who try to tell you they are still getting the deal pretty much every day are IMAGINARY, let me repeat IMAGINARY. If you notice now most of the deals are 15%-30% off and many of the companies well SUCK. The best SUCK is The Container Store. Yep everyone is going to rush to get that one. The days of $14 for a $20 card or $9 for a $15 card are long gone and NOT coming back. Why they even still have the deal is a mystery to me. There is no other criteria, no bots, no navigation issues, no new cardholders. If you believe or hope anything is going to change you might as well believe in Santa. The best thing Citi can do is just end the misery and STOP the Daily Deal or whatever they wish to call it these days. End of story...goodbye.

      • I tried for the H&M and DID keep getting the "unable to add to cart try again later message". I kept refreshing over and over, till the "sold out". I get "sold out" most of the time but I have been getting the "unable to add to cart also". Doesn't make any difference. Nada!
I use may phone, my computers are too old and slow.
Also the number of cards has to have been decreased considerably, this has to be the reason. The people with super fast connections and computers get the cards.
Why hasn't anyone mentioned the change of format of the pages, the resizing, Am I the only one?
Also the discount percentage is less. 15% discount on the higher denomination cards, 30% off a $10 card. Do you notice the cards aren't selling out now? I guess they figured how to stop people from complaining. Lower the savings percentage.
Does anyone remember when they had auctions for cards? Everyone bidding earned points (earned from spending money on your card, spend more, earn more.) for ONE card. It was like ebay auctions. Stupid! Oh! To add insult to injury they increased the amount of points for each bid. I didn't have enough points to even bid.
Then it changed to daily deals. I liked getting the free magazines and a few items or gift cards.
Then it changed to all gift cards, which was great as most of us could get the cards we wanted most of the time.
        Those days are obviously over.
I am wondering when they are going to end the "daily deal" and just have the 10% off cards you can purchase anytime.

  • If someone can create a plugin or browser extension that adds all offers, like CardPointers, couldn’t someone create something similar to add the deal to your cart?

  • Here's some contact info: Citi Executive Response Unit, citieru@citi.com and phone is 605-331-1698 ext. 3311176. Maybe if they're flooded with complaints they'll do something about the My Deals issue.

  • Call Cardmember Services and Keep complaining. I stopped using their card and use my cards from other banks. Tell them you will no longer use a Citi credit card and if they don't fix the program you will be cancelling your card. The only thing they understand is profit. Remember they make 2% back from merchants when you use their card. They will only fix it if they think it will hurt their profit!

    • Some Ideas,

Citi Double Cash Everyday Spending - Direct to TD Double Up Card
Citi Custom Cash Groceries Spending - Direct to Chase Freedom
Citi Custom Cash Restaurants Spending - Direct to Discover
Citi Custom Cash Transit/Transportation Spending - Direct to Futurecard

Cease the required $100/$500 spending on the diamond and simplicity cards

Estimated taxes, 1040 and other bills - pay using TD Double Up Card

Don't Cancel your citi card, just don't use it.
Remove it from your wallet, out of sight, out of mind.

    • Yeah in the past few days I've still been able to get at least one each day, but successfully getting it on all four accounts has become exceedingly rare. Today (Amazon) was especially competitive, only got two. Container Store yesterday was much easier in comparison.

      • Yeah, the container store was still available right before the Amazon started. I refreshed at 10:58 (MST), waited till the clock hit 11 refreshed, clicked on both windows, one browser got an error message, the other said sold out at 11:00:29 MST. I was hoping since there were still Container tore left that something had changed, but alas, Jay must have got both Amazon cards that were available ;)

        • Citi was just playing mind games with that Container Store gift card in order to provide a glimmer of hope for the upcoming Amazon card and some semblance of a return to normalcy for the My Deals program. At this stage they're just adding insult to injury.

      • Damn! You are a hero lol. For me it gets expired even before it gets on. I just refresh and it's gone. Don't even stand a chance to click on it.

  • I recently received an email to switch my citi diamond preferred card to a new rewards+ card. The email includes a table which lists the benefits of each and my deals is not included with the new one. I called the 1800 mydeals number and received a bunch of bs about clearing my cache. Obviously the gift cards are costing too much money and they will stop providing them one way or another like they already have….

    • It goes back about 5 years now (or longer) that every quarter they send me an email about the same switch as you are getting (plus many reminders) No application fee, no credit inquiry, no more My Deals, but yes to Thank You Points. Interesting when you go to their credit cards site, and display all of the benefits of "diamond preferred" (or Simplicity) or compare diamond preferred to rewards+, no mention of "my deals" is made (unlike their explicit statements in the emails) ! So i'm guessing that the My Deals program is going to come to an end soon. Which is what has happened to most of us with this "deal has sold out" at 1:00:00pm crap. Good luck!

  • Although I do not expect to get the gift card every time, but now it is automatically sold out at lpm when I push the refresh button. Something has definitely changed. I have never had this issue before so there MUST be a glitch in the system whether they confirm or not..

  • I just contacted the My Deals department and was told they have confirmed that there are no issues with the program, no bots and that there's been an increase in customers using this program. I find this hard to believe since I haven't been able to get a single 100% savings card when I was getting nearly every one of them for the past couple of years.

    • I love that reply - Increase in customers using the program! I think it's only for Diamond preferred & Simplicity, so I wonder where this massive influx of customers all starting overnight on 1/1/25 came from... Pure male cattle manure... I'm not sure i'm buying "invasion of the bots" either.

      • I agree. I think they changed the program and they're not being honest. She also said they did decrease the number of unpopular cards so they could increase the more popular ones. That doesn't make sense either. It seems that most of us aren't able to snag the popular ones since 1/1.
