JetBlue has announced that it will offer basic economy fare called ‘Blue Basic fare’. These fares will be bookable starting Tuesday. Restrictions on these tickets will be as follows:
- Not possible to make changes to your ticket (even for a fee)
- Does not include checked luggage
- Not possible to select a seat in advance (will be possible to select a seat by paying an additional fee. Seat selection will become available 24 hours before the flight)
- Will earn 1 point per $1 spent, additional 1 point per $1 spent will be offered if booking direct on the JetBlue website
In addition Blue Flex will be replaced by Blue Extra, as part of that change you’ll no longer receive two free checked bags under this fare type.

I'm old enough to remember when flight attendants were called Stewardesses. They wore short skirts, cute little hats, and white gloves when they served you a (bad) steak dinner (in coach). Those were the days:.-) Of course a plane ticket back then cost about a weeks' salary.
Ok Boomer
Thanks for the nostalgia, grandpa.
Dang Whippersnappers! :-)
The race to the bottom only gets faster.
This is JetBlue slowly turning into Spirit Airlines
Received email regarding my Mosiac status. Fare forfeited if cancelled, changes not permitted, advanced seat selection for a fee, not available to redeem Even More Space seats using TB points. At least alcohol is still Free!
So safe to say having Mosiac status is useless now.
Incorrect, the changes mentioned by Brian are only for the Blue Basic fare.
At this rate, Soon if you give birth on a Jet Blue flight they might charge you for an extra carry on...
They only do this because people want to be treated like cattle if it means saving a few shekels. But then are quick to whine about bad service and being nickel and dimed.
