The Offer
Fox Business reports that Kmart is running a promotion to “cash in your Toys R Us gift cards” at Kmart. In reality, you aren’t cashing out the gift cards (which have no value anymore since April 21 due to the Toys R Us bankruptcy). It’s just basically a promotion to former Toys/Babies R Us customers into a Kmart store:
- Bring any Toys/Babies R Us gift card to Kmart and get $10 in FREECASH which can be used toward any purchase of $10 or more. The Toys/Babies R Us gift card can have no balance and still be eligible.
Two other promotions being offered for parents: $5 in FREECASH points toward any toy purchase or $5+. Kmart is also running a promotion on diapers and baby wipes purchases through June 2.
Our Verdict
Sounds like an easy $10 if you have a Kmart nearby and can find an old, empty Toys R Us gift card. Not sure if a printed e-gift card will work for this promotion.

Tried this. Unsurprisingly no one working there had ever heard of it.
How does Kmart even make money when they keep giving out these freecash promos?
It's not really about the gift card, that's just the promotional 'hook'. It's actually about getting you to fill out the toys survey that was posted on here about a week ago, which puts a $10 freecash offer in your account, which can only be spent in-store at Kmart. If you already did that survey from the leaked link, you won't get anything further by doing this now. This deal only works once per account. It does not work at Sears, and it does not work for online purchases.
Really? But they are two different deals, I don't think that's true.
Can we use the FREECASH when making a purchase or does it get deposited into the person's account and we can use it on the next transaction?
Man this is dumb. Do they realize how many empty TRU GCs those of us the flip 3rd party gcs have?
They don't care how many gift cards you have or how much is left on them. You'll only get the offer once regardless.
I wish I had these now lol
First you'd have to find a Kmart store that's still in business. Not many left. Kinda ironic that a chain that's been circling the drain for years now is trying to market to the customers of a competitor that's simply liquidating faster.
Does this promotion works in a Sears store as well ?
No.
