[YMMV] Kroger: Purchase $150 Visa/Mastercard Variable Load Giftcard & Get Purchase Fee Waived

Update 5/18/25: reader Bill reports this coupon is back. I’m not seeing it at the link below, maybe it’s only available in some areas. YMMV.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Kroger is offering the purchase fee waived when you purchase $150+ in variable load giftcards

The Fine Print

  • Valid until October 15, 2024
  • Limit one

Our Verdict

Limit of one restricts the usefulness but might still be good for some readers.

  • Popped again in my coupons, expires today. Lucky I checked, worked again after working a couple of weeks ago. Thanks Ralphs ! And I got half-and-half too.

    • Seeing the same for City Market
Good stack with SYW bonus and it straddles the month :)

    • Did it show up in the coupons for you last time? It didn't for me- the discount was just applied at the register.

      • @guest_2068743 It was not there on 5/18 when this was posted. I check my coupons pretty regularly since I shop at Kroger throughout the week.

  • I don’t understand how you get the money off the cards to pay back your credit card before interest is assessed. Even paying your bills with it instead your credit card means less points earned so it doesn’t really make sense to me to do this

    • What I wouldn't give to be you.. right on the precipice of having my mind blown at all the possibilities just one Google search away.

    • Some of us use Amex or Chase credit cards that give us between 3% and 10% cash back / rewards points. For no activation fees, these cards can be used for insurance, utilities, or anything else that accepts Visa/MasterCard debit. This effectively gives you the 3%-10% back on day-to-day expenses that you other wise would only get 1% back.

  • It worked for me today at Fry's (Kroger) when I bought a MCGC for $500. No coupon needed, nothing added to my account/app. Tried buying two in the same transaction, but it only took the activation fee off of one card.

  • Do you purchase online or is it a clip-online/buy-in-store offer that folks are seeing (if anyone is)?

  • This deal works in Harris Teeter. There's a sign in the gift card area advertising it with no coupon required. The fee didn't auto come off like advertised with VIC Card so required an annoying manager override.
