Mastercard & Paypal have announced that they will be extending their partnership for their co-branded credit card (PayPal Extras Mastercard) in the United States & Puerto Rico in a multi year deal. The card is issued by Synchrony Bank, PayPal had already announced an extension of their partnership with Synchrony last year.
I did wonder what this  would mean for the eBay credit card, given the recent split from Paypal. But Synchrony also extended this deal last year. The eBay Mastercard is the same product as the Paypal card, but with different branding. Both cards earn at the following rates:
- 3x points on gas & restaurant purchases
- 2x points on Paypal & eBay purchases
- 1x points on all other purchases
There are better cards out there for gas & restaurant purchases (and there are cards that earn 2% cash back on all purchases).
I have a credit line with PayPal of $800.00 dollars. As Synchrony Bank has extended its partnership with Paypal Extras Mastercard, is it possible to make a link of my credit account with Paypal and turn it into a Mastercard Paypal with Synchrony Bank or should I have to cancel the Paypal account and open a new Paypal Extras Mastercard with you?
Thank You,
