Hoping someone can help me here just trying to figure out timeline stuff.
Opened an account on 1/2. Received the disclosure via PDF including the $400 cash bonus addendum.

1/5: $500 direct deposit from USAA
1/26: $1,200 direct deposit from Chase

Have had several since too.
Still have not received the bonus. Should I wait until April to call Huntington?

You’re not even at the end of your 90 day qualification period so sit tight. They have an additional 14 days after that to pay, so 4/15 at the latest.

For Platinum Perks, do I need to keep the 25k in the checking account the entire time? Or can I deposit it, then transfer to a CD? I want to take advantage of their 5.05%, 7 month promo. But I don’t want to jeopardize the$600 bonus

There’s no requirement to keep $25k in the account other than to waive the monthly fee. It should be automatically waived the first 2 months, and then you can request a one-time waiver if you get hit with it the 3rd month. I would recommend keeping at least $26 in the account for that reason.

Erik Both P1 and P2 signed up for this $600 bonus last year:

P1 used the method detailed by mothman69, received bonus and monthly fee reversed.

P2 did something similar to your plan: (a) opened checking with $25 and deposited $25k; (b) opened a 14-month CD in branch by transferring $25k from checking; (c) received $600 checking bonus without issue.

I signed up online, but forgot to write down the account number before creating the online login. I also selected paperless. Will I still receive the account information by mail, or do I have to call customer service or go into a branch to get the information?

You might receive a welcome letter in the mail but I cannot remember if it includes your account number. Your best course is to call first and then maybe go into a branch if absolutely necessary.

d The welcome letter would only show the last four digits of your account number. Like mothman69 said, best to call.

for anyone in a similar situation: they do not share account numbers by phone, they said I need to go in a branch

Opened on 10/30/23, ACH push from CapOne 11/8 and then payroll dd on 1/12/24 and as of 3/13/24, still no bonus. any advice? would like to close it since I’m getting the $10 fee applied as of last month. 🙁

Sam I’m assuming you were going for the $400 offer that required a direct deposit? Since you did a legit DD within the 90 day time-frame, you have grounds to submit a CFPB complaint. I would try contacting Huntington first, and then file the complaint if they can’t resolve it.

Eligible again, but not sure I want to play the ‘avoid the fee’ game again.

Not a great bank either as I recall. No branches close either.

I went through the process of the online application got to the end and it wanted to send a code to my cell phone number, unfortunately the cell phones numbers (2 of them old numbers over 3 years no longer mine). Visit the branch and of course it’s a couple hours drive time. Where do these outdated cell numbers originate from?

$600 DP:

  • From previous churn, received bonus on 3/21/23 and closed that account on 4/25/23
  • 11/28 – Platinum perks account opened
  • 12/11 – $25k Ally push, pulled back a couple days later leaving $30
  • 2/13 – $25 monthly fee assessed
  • 3/5 – $600 bonus paid

The new rolling 12-month language does not appear to have been enforced in my case. I hadn’t read the terms close enough when I signed up again and probably would have held off

Interesting. I might try opening my next account at the 6 month post-closure mark instead of waiting the full 12 months since previous bonus. Thanks for the DP!

“Huntington reserves the right to limit an individual to one account-related gift incentive per rolling 12-month period across all deposit account relationships.”

Based on earlier comments, it seems like me getting a Huntington business checking bonus on 2024/01/23 has no bearing on this personal checking account bonus.

Given that I received my last Huntington personal checking account bonus on 2023/02/28 (and closed that account on 2023/03/15), it seems like I should be good to open this account in a few days on 2024/03/01 or after, correct?

I wonder if you would’ve been able to open it earlier than that? The terms don’t say that you need to wait 12 months from the bonus to “open” the account, they just say you need to wait 12 months to get another bonus. You were talking about opening the account on 3/1, but you wouldn’t get the bonus for another 3+ months after that anyways.

I guess I’ll find out soon, because these are my most recent dates:

Opened: 1/7/23
Bonus: 4/11/23
Closed: 6/7/23

Opened: 1/26/24

I would receive the bonus on 4/25/24 at the earliest, which is more than 12 months from my last bonus. In hindsight I should’ve just waited a couple more months to be safe, but we’ll see what happens.
