Pay With Ibotta To Be Debit Card Only From June 10th

Ibotta has a feature called ‘Pay With Ibotta‘ that offers cash back on all purchases (similar to MPX). Basically rather than paying directly with a retailer you use this feature and they generate a gift card for the exact amount of your purchase and that is used for the purchase. The upside is you get a discount on that purchase. Unfortunately Ibotta has sent out an e-mail to users stating that on June 10th credit cards and Discover debit cards will no longer be accepted as payment.

  • Ibotta will no longer accept my credit card as a payment method - not just for gift cards but any purchase. Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing this? For example, I used to have my CC linked. When I checked out of Walmart, my bonus would be applied and I'd get money back in my Ibotta account. But now (I've tried twice), it does not credit me. I checked my profile and by card is not listed. When I try to add it, I get a message that they no longer accept CC for the purchase of gift cards. I'm not trying to purchase a gift card. I've tried contacting Ibotta but no response. I don't own a debit card so I will no longer be able to use Ibotta. Thanks!

  • A bit off topic, but what can be done if Ibotta doesn't apply cashback for a purchase? I've contacted support but it's been unresolved for ~3 months now.

  • It was so convenient to pay with Ibotta then close out and reload to use the same gift card to buy online.

Rebuilding after a house fire the Home Depot pay with Ibotta was convenient especially since the rebate was instant. Now I’ll just go back to using a shopping portal with Raise.

  • I barely use this app anymore. But, one thing I really loved about ibotta was I could book hotels . com going through ibotta and pay with gift card and would still get cashback, whatever % they were offering. Don't think there is any other rebate site/app that gives cashback on hotels . com booking if paying through a gift card.

  • Well, that feature just became almost useless for me, especially the 1-2% places

      • I still do OK on the grocery part, but I can see that many here would not be interested in that. I did get 2% back on my Grubhub order this week. Plus other grocery rebates, although not as much of late.

        • Ibotta was great back when it first started, as many apps are. Once in a while they throw me a good bonus and suck me back in but it's getting less and less. I rarely use Pay with Ibotta anyway but only with Apple Pay. No way I am giving them credit card info, let alone now only giving debit.

          • I’m still too burned by the multiple Sony PlayStation hacks to list my credit cards in most of these apps, honestly...
