as long as the restructuring deal doesnt get nuked then yes. TRU GC should be alive for now. otherwise, we have to wait for the courts. since this is a Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the court decides if TRU must honor gift cards or certificates. if they dont approve, your shit is just dead plastic. use it ASAP.
Should I spend the ToysRUs gift card that I have?
Probably doesn’t hurt but the bankruptcy is probably just a restructure of debt from the limited amount I’ve read.
The Kohl’s by me (in the Chicago area) always seems pretty disorganized, especially their customer service counter. Order pickup is in the front – but they have to walk across the store every time to get the order, their computers aren’t working, they are way understaffed, etc. I hope this goes well, but I’m not optimistic based on previous experience with them.
would be nice if Amazon card start working as Kohl’s card. 😂 I always see nice Kohl’s slickdeals posted.
Kohl’s doing Amazon returns is really striking. Could you imagine Walmart doing Amazon returns? Could you imagine Amazon letting them?
I guess retailers will eventually divide into two camps.. Amazon umbrella and Walmart umbrella.
Maybe a few outliers (Nordstrom? Kroger?) will survive… but that’s it.
Kohl’s probably sees it as a way to drive foot traffic to the stores and also make auxiliary revenue from Amazon. It’s a bit of a weird one but IMO good move by Kohl’s.
