- Stunningly great credit card deal for Active Duty Military! by The Military Frequent Flyer. This is indeed an awesome card for military members, one thing worth pointing out is with the Gold card you don’t need to redeem for airfare to get 2¢ per point – you can just redeem for statement credit.
- Citi’s ThankYou Travel Let Me Down in a Big Way & What You Need to Know to Avoid the Same Thing! by Miles to Memories. I’ve run into the same issues with last minute bookings on OTA’s before, so it’s not just a Citi issue (actually in this case it looks to be an Expedia issue). Hopefully Citi does the right thing and refunds the points quickly. I’d push for some form of compensation as well since it’s a pain to have to run around looking for a place last minute.
- Crooks Steal, Sell Verizon Enterprise Customer Data by KrebsOnSecurity. Contact information of 1.5 million Verizon Enterprise clients was hacked and is currently being sold for $100,000 on the black market. Bit of a big deal since they are in the business of helping corporations deal with these types of attacks.
- Traveling As a Muslim Is the Worst by Travel Summary. I dunno, reading those hateful ignorant comments at the end of the post has gotta be pretty bad as well. Do yourself a favor and read the post and skip the comments.
- Cheapest Hotel In The World via Mile Nerd. Wish they had sample dates as I wasn’t able to replicate the $19 room rate on the IHG property in Bali.
- Virgin America Gets Takeover Bids From JetBlue and Alaska Air by Bloomberg. Big if true. Not sure who I’d rather win that bid to be honest.
- Starwood Gets Higher $14 Billion Offer From Anbang-Led Group by Bloomberg. Interesting that Marriott says they will not increase their bid, I guess they’ll be happy enough with the $450 million in break up fees if the deal doesn’t go through.
