Recap: Wyndham Fail, Amex Upgrade Offer, North Korea Assassination & UPromise Restaurant Program

  • North Korea suspected behind murder of leader’s half-brother: U.S. sources by Reuters. Incredible how public this attack supposedly was.
  • UPromise Restaurant Program Now Offers 2.5% Cash Back Instead Of 5%. Looks like this went into affect on February 2nd, not sure how many people will really care as reader James was first to let me know (although who knows how many people just didn’t realize). If you have the card you still get 10%.

I use aadvantage dining and I never had to write a review. They ask me to write a review, but I igonore the e-mail and miles always post on my AA account.

Upromise sent no notice of the change, so this is the first I heard of it. They’re still the best cash back option with rewards network that does not require writing reviews after dining, but this may push me toward one of the airline programs.

Yeah, pretty interesting. And the Rewards Network site still shows 5%: https://www.rewardsnetwork.com/earn/

(Select Choose Your Reward -> I want to save money -> UPromise)

Received email 1/19/17 with subject “Changes to the Upromise Restaurant Program” outlining the Upromise Dining changes. Communication and notice was perfectly fine for this change.

Southwest has a pretty good valuation and does not require the reviews – just gives 10 extra miles if you do complete one. Particularly helpful for those who have small dining amounts (they just added a KFC in my area).
