Our Verdict

Same deal was available last year as well. Works out to be a saving of 16%+ if you treat the $25 discount as cash. You won’t be able to cycle the discount for another gift card unfortunately. Make sure to use a card that earns at a high rate on grocery store purchases.

  • Deal is back and active for 2021. Shaw's circular has this in Eastern Massachusetts effective 11/17/21 - 12/14/21. Sign also posted near the gift cards in store.   • Not sure if anyone is still following this, but my weekly Safeway mailer in Denver included this offer. I clipped it and expect it to be honored.

  • Is this ad posted anywhere in a believable place, like at safeway.com, albertsons, etc. Not that you need to convince me that it is legit, but if I need to convince a safeway store employee, it would help.

  • Be careful! The $25 coupon that printed at the bottom of my Safeway receipt after doing this deal expires in 1 week! So make sure you use it before it expires!!

  • Did this today (Albertsons in Louisiana) - it printed as a coupon at the bottom of the receipt instead of a Catalina. Purchased Lowe's, Gap, B-Dubs, and Domino's (also got the 10x points on that one) and it worked fine.

  • Did this twice today. Both times, no coupon printed and nothing showing in the app. Both times, the manager gave a a $25 Safeway gift card. Took some time but now gives me options to either resell or use whenever I want instead of the 7 day window.

  • I'm not seeing the $25 Off Next Shopping order in my Ap... is this something that just applies when I buy $150 in gift cards?

  • Meh. I am also seeing like 12x rewards on Apple and 10x on any Happy GC. Pass for me but some people might find those interesting.

    I also have a $5 off $5 coupon that might actually motivate me to make a trip before Wed.

    • Actually, I am not seeing the $25 offer in my app only the rewards offers I mentioned above. Might be region specific or something.
