Does anyone know if I pick safeway for the Drop app if it will work for Randalls? Also does it work with gift cards?

Vons, at least, does not work for Safeway on Drop.

There were plenty of 5 backs at my Acme. Used a plat card that had the 1500 MR for grocery offer and got the offer confirmation email. I’ve never used these, think I’ll go for real spend on partner gift cards I’d like to purchase anyway.

Anyone successfully loaded $500 to a different VGC and got the discount?

I got mine. coupon loaded fine in the store. I stacked it with the AmEx offer for $15 in points after $100 grocery spend. Both deals worked.

And by the way, the offer first appeared TODAY for me. This article was a little too trigger-happy.

I’m only going to hit this one because the 3% back at grocery promo and $100 bonus for spending another $2.5k on my Marvel card stacks really well to get ~6% back on top of the $3 per transaction.

made a trip to Safeway just for the heck of it. Bought 4 cards in 4 separate transactions. Drove to walmart to liquidate all 4. Whole process took an hour just for $800 gift card? and profit like $12? lol mininum wage in DC is $11 per hour… This is a waste of time. Would only make sense if $500 per.

These deals mostly are good for meeting MSR or if you have a 5% CB card and can scale this.

Actually its $20 profit, don’t forget the $2 in pts ur getting. Now if you have bought 8 of them thats $40/hr! Just kidding, yea these are good for MSR with a little profit only.

Tax free, baby. 🙂

But it’s slightly more lucrative than that. Four cards net a total of $16 in cash, minus $1 for the money order. But you should also have a credit card with grocery stores as a bonus category. Let’s say you have a Hilton Surpass. You would have just earned about 4800 Honors points. That’s worth about $24. So your hour of work is worth $39. Not fantastic, but not bad, either. Obviously, the promos that let you buy $500 GCs at a discount are better.

How are you guys scaling this? I thought it was a one time use?
Do you have to sign up for different accounts under different phone numbers?

Sorry to disappoint, but my friend was not working today as cashier so I was not able to try buying a regular VGC. The $206.95 purchase triggered the $10 bonus immediately as well as 400 fuel points. No problem with split payment (needed just $100 of it to complete a minimum spend on a Marriott VISA which does not include groceries as a bonus category).

jewel stores here in Chicago have this offer in mymixx now
kind of a pain to have to load it to an acct to save this amount.

few months back, jewel had $10 off $50’s which included mastercards.
even with the activation fee, using a 5% back amex card still saved me 14.5%.
and it seemed, no one else cared, I was the only one buying them all.

I just don’t get it sometimes, people complain about not having enough money and here was a way to save 9.0-14.5% depending on how you paid for the MC

My problem with this is… if I hit this hard $100k, it would be so profitable for Safeway they realize they can do the $200 instead of the $500 normal visa and we’ll never see the $500 again. I’ll pass…
