[Expired] Sam’s Club $8 Membership In-Club By Mentioning Super Bowl (2/14 – 2/17)

Deal has ended, view more Sam’s Club deals by clicking here.

The Offer

  • Sam’s Club is offering their membership for just $8 (reg. $45) in-club when you mention the Super Bowl promo. Valid February 14 – 17.

They said the cost would be where the ball was placed at the 2-minute warning and it turned out at the 8 yard line.

Our Verdict

There are often stacking deals that get you Sam’s membership for free or even a moneymaker. This deal likely won’t be able to stack since those are usually dependent on the $45 cost. You can see a list of deals in this post; some of them are only for online. The $35 Dosh deal should technically work since there’s no mention of a $45 minimum (making this a $27 moneymaker), but I’m unsure it’ll work in practice.

Still could be a useful deal for someone who just wants a simple, cheap membership deal.

  • There is no Sam's Club nearby for me. There is a Costco though. Any ideas of how to get a cheap membership for Costco? I've read in the past about sometimes there is a Groupon or Living Social promo with a discount or a gift card or free items.

    • Chase credit cards had a offer for $10 last month, probably would not count on it coming back anytime soon.

    • Few and far between offers for Costco. They have more often run deals where you get a shop card with membership, maybe $10. They had one good one last October where you got a $40 card and an online coupon. You pretty much have to watch out for it. They do have a promo page (https://www.costco.com/online-membership-promotion.html). That's where I saw the October deal. Not sure if that helps answer your question though.

  • The only reason I got a Sam's membership was from the Amex deal, it was literally a money maker. Ok I'll bite if you are going to pay me to be a member. Nearest one is 25 min away. Might go once or twice this year.

BJs I just signed up on a new account for $25, and $10 credit every month for 6 months. Should be a moneymaker as well. They are good for the occasional detour from Costco, and mine has liquor(which is a nice treat here in NJ)

Costco has no deals whatsoever but it's absolutely worth it. They are that much above the other two. Sams isn't even worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence as Costco.

    • Depends on where you live. Sam's is my favorite here in the Midwest. They offer more benefits that I use like Scan and Go and curb pickup. The pricing is basically the same for 95% of items. I hardly ever use Costco.

      • Yeah I guess it's varies depending where you are. I got an effectively free BJ's membership with an offer a couple months ago, but even with the coupon booklets I find the prices are significantly higher for most stuff. The stores around here (north NJ) seem less crowded which can be a plus.

I also got a free Sam's membership that ended last year and I found they were fairly competitive with Costco. Mobile Scan & Go is nice, but you can't use gift cards with it and have to go to a register. The cashiers at two different stores were horribly incompetent and took forever to scan items even with me assisting them unloading and loading the cart and had no clue how to process a gift card properly. Stick with the self-checkout lanes and you'll do better.

Costco has a good selection of products and I've noticed they also carry some more "upscale" or gourmet brands as well. I find they usually have the best prices on sale items out of the three clubs, the staff are helpful and seem to care about their jobs. There's no mobile scan, but the lines move relatively fast even when the stores are packed with people. After the free Costco promo with my Chase Freedom card a few years ago, I decided to keep the membership.

Again, this is all YMMV as each location can be different, but Costco ≥ Sam's > BJ's, for me at least.

  • I only use Sam's for 2 items-frozen fruit and 50 packs of Cheddar Cheese Ripples-I know, disgusting, but try em with spicy fresh salsa-the crack cocaine of chips. 30 cents a bag.
Now, I could buy both items at Costco, but I have a mathematical formula for waiting- if w=waiting, then fuck off. So for me Sam's is hugely a more enjoyable experience.
Time waits for no man and neither do I.

  • Agreed. Haven't paid for a sams membership going on 3 years. It's just not worth it. Local store is very ghetto. Need to drive ~15 miles to get to a decent one.

  • any downside when playing in 2P mode - for us to rotate getting the membership using these discounted offers and cancelling at yr end, and then the next person signs up for new membership?

      • @guest_1332061 yes. But to clarify I meant to not renew when membership yr is over, not to cancel mid year.

        • @guest_1332064 thanks for the clarification :)

Regarding your question you can play 2 player mode I have been doing the same.

    • How do they know P2 is related to you, to be in the safe side you can consider not filling the complete address, and don't add any household card.

  • Seriously at this point they should just give away their membership for free (or at least free with Walmart+)

    • Free is amateur hour. Free is not enough. My last sign up was a $20 money maker, not including the $45 GC.

      • Already received two $10 uber credit and $25 Amex credit with Sams membership. The next ten uber credits are full profit.
