Some Cardless Avianca Card Details Leaked

It looks like some of details on the new Cardless Avianca cards has been leaked. The information was briefly available here (and is it still showing on the Google cache). Details are as follows:

  • $99 annual fee card:
    • 40,000 miles after $3,000 in spend.
    • Silver status
    • 10% discount on some cash bookings
    • Earn 3x on Avianca purchases
    • $0 foreign transaction fees

  • If Cardless doubled the offer to say 80k LM + wait list bonus, I would probably pull the trigger and hope partner availability improves in the future.

  • I will pass on this until the LM program availability on partner airlines improves. I have some LM in the bank that I have not used in over 1 year mainly because of low redemption availability and their high fees for cancelations and rebanking their LM currency. This 40K + bonus does not really move the needle at this point.

  • I was initially excited for this, but only a mediocre Year 1 card. Silver status perks like upgrades, extra checked bag, seat selection, same day flight changes don't apply to any discount fares. The price of normal fares is often close to double that of discounted fares. I only see it being worth it for 2 reasons:

    1. if you're flying to internationally on full fare with Avianca through LAX/MIA/JFK to BOG/SAL, and think you can use your space available upgrade coupon to business.
    2. If you're shooting for Gold Status to use for Star Alliance, and you have 40k amex points to transfer over that you can use for the 2nd free checked bag and United Clubs
  • For a split second, I thought the title means that some of these card holders details were leaked..... my god

  • I’m hyped if the $249 one gives Gold Status for first year and have some not too crazy spending requirement (such as <$25,000) to keep the Gold status (Star Alliance Gold)

But it’s a Cardless product, I’m no longer eligible lol

      • Correct, and this one-card policy includes both cards that have already been closed and those they no longer offer. I have their old Manchester United card (competitive only for restaurants overseas, with 3% cash back and no FTFs), and I’m unable to apply for any of the current products.
I hope they’ll rethink this policy, for it really doesn’t make sense for any of the parties involved😉

      • One card, ever. Or until they run out of people to sell to and come to their senses.

  • If the 10% discount is at the same level as the LifeMiles (i.e. available for all Avianca flights), then it's not a terrible deal. Club LifeMiles at the lowest level is $72 for 6 months and 3600 miles (6 months is the minimum you can pay for). At 12 months that is $144 - 7200 miles. You can get around $0.015-$0.025 per mile depending on the booking (international bookings get better rates than domestic). I just booked an international flight on Avianca. Without club LifeMiles it would have been $0.0225/mi. With the club I got $0.025/mi.

The 40,000 miles is worth anywhere between $500-$1000.

That being said, it's probably a better deal to do the Capital One Venture card for $95, get 75,000 points, transfer them to LifeMiles and pay for 6 months of Club LifeMiles when you have plans to book, just like I am doing.
