Southwest Surprising Some Members With Free A-List Status Until June 2020 (30k + Companion Pass Chase Cardholders)

If you have a Southwest account it’s worth checking to see if you’ve been gifted free A-List Status. It looks like some members have been gifted this and it’s valid until June 30th, 2020. A-List normally requires 25 one way qualifying flights or 35,000 qualifying points and provides the following benefits:

  • Priority boarding
  • 25% earning bonus
  • Same-day standby
  • Priority check-in and security lane access
  • Dedicated A-List member phone line

It looks like people who opened the Chase Southwest card that came with a companion pass for 2019 and 30,000 points are being awarded this A-List Status, overall a nice little freebie although I maintain that wasn’t a particularly good offer.

I received A list. I did not do the 30K + CP promotion. Instead did the business card and the regular card for 50 and 60 K promo to earn CP last year, still have cards open until 12 months run out

Not sure if it will last but I signed up under the promotion. Desktop site shows companion pass valid until 12/20 and now I’m a list

My wife’s account shows A-List status, she did the Business Premier and Plus for the CP in early 2019. If she wasn’t in her third trimester of pregnancy we might be able to put it to use!

A member of SWest team replied over at flyertalk saying they did run a promotion giving SOME folks A-list. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/southwest-airlines-rapid-rewards/2002358-list-cp.html

STATUS PENDING is very normal the first of each year. It takes them some time to do year end processing.

AGAIN – this is NORMAL.

Hmm, mine says “Status Pending” and “Please bear with us …” as they update after the start of the new year. Is that a good sign for me? Fingers crossed, I have WN flights next week and in March.

Same. Had a CP in 2017/2018 but just a single biz card opened in 2019.

my account says: Your tier status is currently unavailable during our end of year account processing period. What does that mean? My wife’s account is still saying member though

That should be cleared now. Everyone’s account read that for a couple days at the end of 2019/beginning of January 1 as they reset everyone’s status :).

Mine still says status pending. The link on Southwest’s website said it may take a few weeks to clear up.

Sweet, I got it also. Have CP in 2019/2020 via 60k biz and 50k in flight. Received no notification. Too bad just returned from my SW flights and next one scheduled a week after this expires 6/30/2020.
