The Offer

Direct Link to offer (contains our  affiliate link)

  • Staples.com online is selling $200 Visa gift cards and waiving the standard $7.95 purchase fee. Free shipping. Limit 3 at the promotional price.

Our Verdict

It’s basically free office supply spend or generally free spend if you have a way of using these where a credit card normally wouldn’t be valid. You can also get fee-free $200 Visa gift cards with no fees at Staples stores this week. These deals are both for the $200 denomination only.

Just recv’d a VM from Staples customer service that my order was cancelled, rep said they were emailing a $20 coupon for the inconvenience.

Received three of these today and none can be activated. Is there something I’m missing or am I in for a lengthy customer service fight?

Are these personalized cards shipped from BHN Reno NV? I ran into a similar issue with cards from the Meijer deal I got today…had to call to activate them before I could register online

I bought these on Wednesday 9/7 and the order is still in Processing status. Anyone else else get theirs processed or shipped yet?

yeah, still processing 2 orders (2x 600.00, P1 and P2.) Plus they have fallen off my Chase Ink card..No more pending and no charges, yet. This is normal for Staples online. They bill after they ship, which could take up to 14 days at least. No worries, they will come!!!

Anyone used Citi Premier to meet minimum spend successfully?

thinking of redeeming my discover cashback to staples gift card(15%off) and then use it to buy Visa gift card, not sure if this is going to work, anyone tried before?

Nope, got this: “You cannot purchase a gift card by paying with a gift card. ”

I would do this, but not when they are having the sale (concurrent) and I can just go there and buy the physical card. I would like to see this when they don’t have the sale on the physical card.

Unless I am sitting in the parking lot before Staples opens on the first day of the sale, I don’t have a chance to get the ones in store. And even then, it’s a crapshoot. So this is only way I could get some. For some reason, I can only get cards at OD/OM in my area, which I prefer anyway given the cheaper price, but they always have them in stock.

It’s the same thing.

Why would i waste my gas and time finding stores that have the VGC’s in stock when i can grab a few online with very little effort?

Going to the store makes sense if you’re trying to milk out the Chase Ink card to its last drop, but for hitting a SUB or light spending, here and there, online is always the easier option

True, but “online” you risk getting lost in mail, card not activated properly, etc.. Whereas at the store you GET the card in hand. I can also run a quick check on my cell phone (gift card mall) and see before I leave the parking lot that that the cards are activated. Can’t do that online. It’s more risky to buy them online, IMO. But if you don’t mind, then go for it. Some of the comments below reflect issues with the online purchasing. But again, hey – just my personal preference. No harm done.

They’ve been having either Visa or MC gift cards on sale so frequently, in larger quantities (5 and now 8), that I don’t see much point in this. Of course, that’s easy for me to say because I have a Staples store not too far from me that always has a good stock on the rack.
