  • Anyone having issues buying MOs at Kroger? I never have until now, the screen says transaction denied or something like that. Other retailers have worked ok though

  • is there anyone who can trigger with AmexOffer when purchasing in-store?
I did buy 2x$200 today but didn't trigger my Amex offer

  • This one helps a bit. After a out of state trip, my go to BOA TR visa declined on the Mastercard GCs when I returned to home base (my local Staples) last week. Had to choose other CCs that didn't help as much rather then step outside and contact BOA.

This will definitely make up for it, as I will have some more time to add more purchase points to travel redemptions!

    Thanks again, DOC.

  • Bought 10 in 2 rounds of 5 each. Also dunno if lucky, but was able to load $200 x 2 on BB at WM without any issue. Maybe the Metabank issue is resolved? Any DP's????

    • I was able to load 2x200 VGC (MetaB from Staples) to BB at regular register today. There was a data point (Chris) from the master MB issue thread that he was able to load BB at MC without issues. I would avoid loading BB at MC for now.

      • Again today, unable
To use metabank at MC but Able to unload at RC. Problem is big amount unloading so have to do multiple loads in small amounts...... painful but working for now 🤓

  • My store said a manager has to ring customers up to prevent fraud but failed to see my ID or CC. Not sure what type of fraud they are preventing. Maybe BC I used my rewards he decided not to check my card. But generally speaking it makes no sense to me

    • Similar lack of security concern at my two local Staples stores.
I walk in there, refuse to signup for rewards club [even though I'm already enrolled], insert my credit card for $1K in VGCs, and am not even asked for an ID. Office Depot OTOH asks for ID every time.

  • I am maxed out on the Ink card for several more months thankfully. Trying to stay at home as much as possible.

  • Anyone else worried about Staples? They have been on fire with these offers lately but I wonder if it is an act of desperation and a bad sign for their future

      • Churn and burn. I usually spend down any visa/MasterCard gift cards within a few hours of getting them but I am a low volume buyer so I will max this out only once when it comes up.

      • Justification for spreading the MetaBank fear and anxiety please? There are no FDIC-insured Staples. I've already had $100+ GCs go poof to bankrupt restaurants and worry my local movie theater is next in line. However, I need not worry about MetaBank, which is FDIC-insured (so long as name is registered to card account) unless you provide reasoning for spreading panic? How about I avoid buying VGCs when you avoid vaccine injected microchip trackers.

        • @Superman
Mkay, does Staples also have a sale on tinfoil hats, microchip trackers eh ?

It is absolutely your right to worry or not to worry about stuff. Some fun facts though - the Metabank has been pretty aggressive with discounts this year and at the same time they are closing the main loopholes for churners, so they are trying to increase the number of their GCs held in sock drawers; the Blackhawk network has been having issues. But more importantly look out the window and see if you like what is going on with the economy. You are smart to do the registration thing, and that FDIC protection might come in handy; better save the receipts too. If it was not for the FDIC fine print, I would not touch these GCs with a 50 ft pole, especially if I could not liquidate them within a month or so.

        • I have $100 Regal Theaters gift cards currently. No timeline when Regal theaters would open or if they ever re-open. There is a real risk of businesses not coming back the longer this covid pandemic continues.
I consider my $100 Regal gift cards no longer valid. That's real money down the drain.
