Promotion ends soon, might make sense to think about what tiles you have left and if it makes sense to make purchases you haven’t naturally made to hit bonuses.
The Offer
- Starbucks has released a new Hopscotch game. The idea is that you have a board and you receive stars for completing: spaces, paths and the complete board. It seems that different people have different maximums (e.g 350 or 400 Stars or 425) and each tile is different for different people.
The Fine Print
- Offer valid 2/6/2019 – 3/3/2019 at participating Starbucks® stores
Our Verdict
My recommendation is usually to just do your Starbucks orders as normal and then when it’s getting close to the end of the promotion you can have a look at your board and see if there are any easy ones that you could do (or harder ones that would score you a lot of points). Probably doesn’t hurt to have a look at the start to see if there is something easy you could change to complete a space (e.g using a different store or using the app). Unfortunately doesn’t seem like there is any way to get any free spaces, but you do get one free pass.

Per a user on reddit major changes coming to Starbucks rewards soon. 150 stars for a free drink or breakfast sandwich, 200 for lunch sandwiches, protein boxes and some new additions https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/awgqds/discussion_thread_march_02_2019/ehnnf36/ they say they don't know when it's happening but they guess in the next month or two.
Look at the FAQs on the Starbucks web site. It's confirmed. https://customerservice.starbucks.com/app/answers/list/search/1/kw/changes%20to%20rewards%20program/suggested/1
I just came to see how long it'd take folks who don't like Sbux to come into a Sbux post to talk about how they don't like Sbux. (They were already here! 😂)
Max of 425 stars for me, btw. Skipped one space but completed all others and finished with 415.
Do you know what qualifies for a handcrafted beverage? Frappuccino count? Ordering 4 handcrafted beverages at once works for me if my daughters frapps count.
Yes fraps count (not the bottled ones but the ones made by the staff). Basically everything except iced tea and coffee and brewed tea and coffee.
Iced coffee does count, oddly enough.
I only had luck with the boardwalk game at the end of summer bc you got 2 free plays each day. I tend to get get drip coffee, unless there is a happy hour, and with the cash app $1 off coffee shops I haven't found good star deals since.
Keeping in mind that, as others have said, this is only worthwhile if you love Starbucks and typically buy these things anyway.
With that said, I think this may be the most efficient method to complete the board if that's your goal.
This assumes starting today, which happens to be 50% espresso drink day:
Thursday (50% Espresso Day): After 3 PM, make a mobile app purchase in which you buy 1 iced cinnamon shortbread latte, one other latte, one other handcrafted beverage, and a bakery item (cake pop is typically the cheapest): Two For Yum, Coffee With Friends, Toasty Two.
Friday: Make a mobile app purchase before 9 a.m. from a second store: Order on the Way
Saturday: Make a purchase from a third store: On a Roll
Sunday: Make a purchase from a fourth store. Coffee Ranger, Weekender
Monday: Order a breakfast sandwich or sous vide egg bites before 9 AM. After 2 PM, buy any lunch item: All Day, Lunch Break, Monday Funday, Great Morning, Early Riser
Skip: Use this on any square you like or on the secret block that hasn’t yet been revealed.
Full board complete.
Meanwhile, you can also stack this with some of the other ongoing bonus star promos, such as the one to visit 3 days in a row for 30 stars, etc.
My experience last year was that sometimes the board would be a little glitchy, particularly with mobile orders, but a quick e-mail to Customer Service always fixed any issues.
Everybody has a different board don't they?
Hmm, good question.
I would assume most, if not all, of the tasks are similar, otherwise that's a lot of coding and logistics work for Starbucks to take on to give everyone a different game board experience.
Just checked and my board matches the screencap/graphic in the post exactly.
While a good portion of the tasks are the same, the amount of times needed to complete the tasks may change. For example, my 350 board has 3 stores for coffee ranger, while my spouse's board has 5 stores for the 425 board.
This sucks. I get better offers for their weekly menu or other kind of challenges. With those I do far less work to get the stars. But I’m guessing a menu challenge would stack with this game.
You do get one free pass.
Let me add
Not working for me
my max is 425
Mine is 350 and I also have an "in the mood" offer that can be stacked (3 specific items for 200) that runs through next Monday. Stacking other offers is the best way to play these games IMHO.
I got 425 and 100 “in the mood”. Are you think it’s stackable?
totally stackable. Just have to match what you're buying with the squares.
