Subway Making Negative Changes To Loyalty Program

Subway has announced negative changes to loyalty program Sub Club. Under the old program it was buy three footlongs, get a fourth free and you’d also earn 10 points per $1 spent with 400 points = $2 in Subway cash. Under the new program you’ll just get the same earn rate as before without the buy three get one free benefit. The new program will go live on April 1, 2026 and to make matters worse any stamps towards a free footlong will be forfeited on that date too.

My (limited) understanding is that they just brought back sub club in December last year with a buy three, get one free and nerfed the older program that had status tiers. Seems very poorly hardly, should have just run the sub club promotion as limited time but perhaps they thought it wouldn’t be as expensive to run as it has been. Anecdotally it seems since that promotion was running most locations stopped accepting other coupons and discounts due to the cost of that program.

Starbucks announced a new rewards program earlier this year that goes live March 10. Panera has also made changes
