  • Honestly it’s a hard pass for target even with 10% off giftcard.

    Store brand ice cream:
    2.98 at Walmart
3.49 at target - with 10% off, you are still paying more ($3.141)

I have yet found an item that is cheaper at Target than Walmart/Sams/Aldi.

Please enlighten me folks if you find it

    • @guest_2090327 You are right - I have also concluded the same and passing on these - IMHO everything I usually buy is 20 - 25% higher priced at Target - This may vary by city you live in. However, most of the examples people are posting here ( diapers and some baby stuff) - I don't need that as I do not have a baby - Most of the items I usually buy, grocery and electronics, Target pricing is a deal-breaker for me - Even at 20% discount!

    • Okay, just a couple things from my shopping list today:

Oscar Meyer Bacon 7.84 at Walmart, 6.99 at Target
Kraft Cheese Slices, 16 oz, 24 slices, 5.08 at Walmart, 4.99 at Target
Brownberry Country Style White Bread, 4.00 at Walmart, 3.99 at Target
Motts Apple Juice, 60 oz, 3.93 at Walmart, 3.59 at Target (got 2 for 6).

      • Bacon: 16oz for $4.75 at Aldi..
I didn’t check for others. But thats if you are okay with store brand. I found it no difference

        • I thought you were all about comparing "apples to apples"? How is an Aldi brand price a comparison to a brand name?

          • Aldi only sells store brand. You can compare that to store brand of target..tired of this bs. Aldi has no named brands

          • Well I don’t care for name brands, but if that’s what you like, good for you. And yes the items you found on target is cheaper than Walmart. But Aldi is all about store brand (they don’t sell any name brands) if you have ever been there. As I always say: Aldi > Sams > Walmart > Costco > Target. But it’s not 100% as you just show several items where target is cheaper. Most of the fresh produce is cheapest at Aldi. Like milk, eggs, cheese, corn, etc. and I don’t think their quality is bad at all. Best thing - Aldi is never really packed and I can shop leisurely

    • @guest_2090327 The key strategy with Target is to price match to Walmart and Amazon while in the store. If you are willing to do this, then stack the gift card discount and any Target Circle offers, good deals can be had. But it's not effortless, as sometimes Target Circle offers and price match don't combine, and only works for branded items.

Another strategy is geographic arbitrage -- change your home store to a rural area of a heavily red state to get lower online prices (Target prices vary a lot depending on your home store zip code), and then order for pick-up at your local store. You will still get the cheaper price.

      • Yea but imagine the black eye I would get trying to price match 50 cents on ice cream lol it’s just everything is a dollar more expensive at target and it would be such an inconvenience to price match everything. Don’t get me wrong, I want to support target but they have not been very competitive

    • You still forget that if you are a circle card member, you get the extra 5% back on everything.

If you have that card, Walmart and target are honestly a wash in comparison. Just depends on what brands you like more.

      • a dollar more on a $5 dollar item is 20% more expensive. the 5% off means nothing really. and yes you can try price matching 50 cents on every single item and see if the cashier will give you a black eye.

    • Diapers and wipes are great, they usually run spend 100 get 30 gift card or spend 75 get 15 gc. Stock um during those sales.

      • Walmart: Pampers Swaddlers Baby Diapers Size 4, 66 Count - $7.99

Target: Pampers Swaddlers Baby Diapers Size 4, 66 Count - $28.49, if you buy 4 to get $30 gift card, it will come out at $20.99.

That's 262% more expensive. Target is going to go bankrupted at this rate.

        • That's insane lol. I think the $7.99 is an "error fare" tbh.
I just bought a bunch and saved an extra 10% through a Citi Merchant Offer.

          • Hey Glenn. I hope you didn’t actually buy any $7.99 diapers. I am 99.99% sure it is a fake listing. Usually the first thing I do when I go to Walmart.com is to filter out third party resellers because there are lots of scammers and the return policy is unclear. I forget to do that yesterday. I got burned buying from third party resellers before on Amazon.

          • Or maybe it was a fake listing he made and removed as soon as I pointed out the super sketchy seller. We'll never know...

          • Asians not Bsians? lol, ok, IYKYK I guess. Anyways, it was a continuation of the thread he started in the Costco Wallet comments, but whatever.

          • Also no need for him to post the exact same rhetorical drivel in every single post where Costco is even tangentially mentioned, complete with tons of fake "comparisons"...maybe you should delete those too, lol

  • DP: Attempted to place three orders for physical gift cards in the following sequence (all to be shipped to the same address): P3 (worked), P1 (same last name) (worked), P2 (different last name) (auto-cancelled).

    • Follow-up DP: P2 was able to purchase over the phone by having CSR manually adjust the price.

  • 10% off Target GC is live now. Also, there are a few other deals on select GC like 20% off Fandango, 15% off AMC and Cinemark, $20 Target GC if you buy $100 worth of Cracker Barrel or Disneyland.
I got $125 worth of Fandango for $100 which also triggered the spend $100 get $10 Circle rewards deal.

  • It's not showing up for me. I'm trying to buy a Target gift card and it's showing the face value of the card. I am a Circle member at the free tier. Is this deal limited?

  • Decent deal if you shop a lot of TGT. Otherwise waiting for BF timeframe to stack their annual 10% off with Discover 5% Q bonus CB for net 14.5% savings.

    • If you shop at Meijer, you can get Target GCs when they have the points back. Current one is 7500 points for each $50 so 15% plus whatever rewards you can get from a CC.

  • Just a word of caution regarding Target gc. I had a gc saved in my Target account. One day it just disappeared from my account. If I couldn't find the gc number and pin again, that money would have been gone. Fortunately it was purchased online and I still have the email. The lesson here is don't rely on Target to keep your gc safe and always backup the gc number and pin somewhere else.

    • Funny you mention this, I had this happen a couple years ago.

It was a mess because I had acquired a bunch of small misc gift cards and combined them online. Fortunately, I managed to piece together what my balance was and call customer sevice.. they had to escalate it and were fighting me on it. Eventually after a couple weeks I had my balance restored.

I now keep all Target gift card records filed away just in case.

  • let see if the Target simps are as bad we the GreedCo simps.
GreedCo (Costco) simps are famous for:

    1. Knowingly paying extra 20% to 50% more per unit
    2. Claim that GreedCo stuff has higher quality, but it's really not
    3. Continue to defend GreedCo using their typical marketing lines

If you have money to throw away to contribute to the corporate greed, why not just donate it to charities.. Maybe that way, world hunger could be solved instead of lining the pockets of the executives.

    • you hate Costco, BJ etc, now Target. Where do you buy stuff like toilet paper which you probably use loads off?

    • Yeah! And they're also putting chemicals in the water that turn the friggin' frogs gay!

    • I feel like Target has relatively reduced prices these days. I am also finding lot more deals than in the past

    • The average person doesn't get the same value out of their money as the majority of people on this forum. These deals are great if you work them a bit but not if you are the average consumer (which is what every company relies on)

      • There is no deal from GreedCo that would offset the 20% to 50% higher per unit cost. Yet people on this site, who is famous for penny pinching, continues to shop at GreedCo. I don’t understand the logic of it.

        • We shop there and other places when it benefits the "smart ones" like folks here. Buying currently discounted items, using Target deals, etc., and using the discounted Target gift cards at 10 % off. You should learn the facts and stop being a "goody too shoes". From my vast life experiences (pushing 70+) in real life situations, your views will never change anything. . Maybe just vote for the people who share your mindset. You can not do anything else, so calm the f down!! It's not healthy for your being!!

        • Not sure what you are buying that is 20% to 50% higher per unit cost.

We bought fruits and vegetables that were 20-25% less than at ShopRite.

We don't eat meat, so I can't compare that.

      • He shows up ranting about Costco in every page about Costco and always calls them Greedco. It is very weird

        • Ha, I made that name the first time I commented to express my displeasure over the cap 1 shopping page removing tons of gift cards (REI included).
