The Offer

No direct link, e-mailed offer. Subject line is “100$ Statement Credit Exclusively for Schwab Members”

  • Enroll and earn a $100 statement credit after you make a purchase by 10/31/2017 using you American Express Platinum for Schwab card.

The Fine Print

  • You have until 10/31 to make a purchase

Our Verdict

Offer seems to be targeted towards cardholders with their annual fee in the next month, basically a pro-active retention offer or a non standard anniversary bonus. If you receive the offer you might as well call retention to see if you can get another offer and “double dip” this offer, our guide to retention offers here. I don’t know the full fine print so not sure if you could get this offer and then cancel without paying the annual fee but I suspect no (annual fee refund policies can be found here).

Sorry to pull up an old thread. Any idea how quickly the $100 bonus credited after making a purchase?

Very good William charles. I called out another blogger for not hat tipping a reader for a tip he posted about and the blogger banned me. So many hypocrites blogging.

The reddit thread says this card is a no brainer keeper. Why?

This card allows you to cash out MR points at 1.25 cents to a Schwab investment or checking account, and gets a $100/$200 credit for those with $250k/$1M at them, rest is standard AmEx Platinum. Not sure if that makes it a keeper though.

Its a keeper if you have the $1m with them. I have a retirement account with them so the card is only $350 a year for me. With the use of Uber/Ubereats, it helps drop the final price to $150. Whether you can use all the $200 airline credit is a bit of an issue but otherwise it is a net $50 a year. For me its a keeper since I make a steady amount of points with business expenses and don’t know what to do with MR points half the time since I don’t travel all the time(I also have the Business Platinum). Cashed out 100k points last week so thats a $250 bonus over most ways to rebate MR points for cash.

Value is definitely subjective, but 1.25 combined with 2/MR per dollar on Blue Plus for Biz is a pretty good deal!
