Our Verdict

Good deal if you’re targeted, works out to be a free membership. A lot of people will already be members or have been members in the last 18 months and in that case you won’t be eligible. Read more about NFCU credit cards by clicking here.

  • I wasn't targeted. I got the credit. Never contacted customer service.

    10/30 - Purchased membership for $60
    12/4 - Received credit for $60

It doesn't say its specifically for the Costco promo, but that was the only time I have ever used the debit card associated with this account and I don't have any non-automated ongoing transactions so I don't see what else it could possibly be.

Only went to Costco on the day I activated my membership so far. Not all that impressed.

  • I received the credit. I never had a targeted email either. I did not even have to contact NFCU for the credit.

  • Received my $60 credit!

@SuitCase - it was pretty clear the offer was targeted IMO; those that jumped in with no email were rolling the dice. Glad it worked out for you!

  • So this ended up being a bit of a mess — it turned out that this was absolutely a targeted offer, and seemingly everyone who signed up assuming their NFCU card was eligible was told “nope, you had to get the promo email”.

I made the purchase anyway, and sent them a message asking if I’d get the reimbursement, and got the same response. I figured “what a pity”, but lo and behold, today I see “COSTCO MEMBERSHIP CREDIT PROMO” on my statement with a $60 credit.

Initial charge was 10/28/2017, credit posted 11/30/2017.

Hope everyone else who was disappointed by this one gets a similarly nice surprise on their statement. Maybe it wasn’t actually targeted, or maybe they just decided to automatically credit everyone who tried to use the offer.

  • Wonder if I can use this if not targeted. Nothing on the link says otherwise and I have Navy Fed visa. Mulling whether to try.

  • i got the email but my membership expired 12 months ago so i would not be a new member . on the link there is also an option to" Buy two Costco Membership Activation Certificates to join as a new Executive Member. Receive an annual 2% Reward* (up to $1,000) on qualifying purchases at Costco and Costco.com." the cost is $120 and they will give you a $60 credit
