This deal is targeted and starts tomorrow, 12/1/16.
The Offer
Barclay is sending out a targeted offer via email on various credit cards. I’ve seen it reported on Arrival, A+, Jetblue Plus, Aviator Red, and Aviator Silver. Likely other cards too.
- Register your Barclay Arrival Plus as your preferred method of payment at Amazon, Wayfair, iTunes and 1800Flowers and receive $5 statement credit per 2 transactions up to 20$ max
1. Register your card as your preferred payment option at one of the following online merchants: Amazon.com, Wayfair.com, iTunes, and 1800Flowers.com.
2. Ready to check out? Simply click your card in the payment options — no forms, no need to type your card number.
3. Get a $5 statement credit, up to $20 total, each time you register and use your card two or more times at any of the online merchants listed above from December 1 through December 31, 2016.¹
The Fine Print
- This deal starts tomorrow, 12/1, and ends 12/31/16
- Primary cardmember is financially responsible for all authorized user transactions
- The statement credit will appear on the cardmember’s statement 6-8 weeks after the end of the promotion
Our Verdict
Nice offer. Check your emails – no luck yet for me on my A+, but it is a newish card so not surprising.
I doubt you have to actually set the Barclay card as the preferred method; so long as you do two purchases of any amount the $5 statement credit will likely be triggered.
Amazon is the easiest since you can simply reload your Amazon balance with $.50 or buy an Amazon gift card of $1; do it twice to trigger the $5 credit.
With iTunes, you can either buy anything in the iTunes store to trigger the credit – some are as little as $1.29 – or you can load up your iTunes balance with $10 at a time. You might be able to find cheap stuff on wayfair and 1800flowers too.
The one thing that’s still a bit unclear is whether you can get the full $20 credit from a single merchant, e.g. if you buy eight $.50 Amazon reloads you’ll get a $20 credit, or if you can only get $5 from each of the four. I’d probably run eight $.50 Amazon gift card purchases just in case it works to trigger the full amount.
Hat tip to r/churning and G.

Got the credit for this the other day. Seems like it was limited to one credit per merchant.
Got my $5 credit last week two. Rereading the promo "two or more times" should have clued me in that 8 $0.50 Amazon credits wasn't going to get me $20.
Got my $5 credit last week *too*, not *two*
No dice on Upromise.
But I also basically use that thing only online or at Kohl's (in store offer), only when there isn't a competing offer that is close, and only for big ticket items.
That card never tracks the extra 4% CC bonus and you have to file a claim, which sometimes gets denied. Then you have to escalate and it's a huge PITA. Only worth it for big purchases.
Interesting; so far I've never had to file a claim to get the 5% for using the card, but then it does take a looong time before it posts.
Well, their TOS says that the additional 4% will post in 10-12 weeks. If more than 4-5 months go by and I don't see my money, I start filling out the form.
The initial portal reward always tracks (normal portal). It is the bonus for using the card that never seems to.
So, basically, I don't use it. 😀
