- Set up and receive qualifying direct deposits totalling at least $2,500 or more within the first 90 days of account open
The Fine Print
- A $50 minimum deposit is required when opening an account online. To receive the $250 reward, the following conditions must be satisfied: 1) set-up and have a qualifying direct deposit(s) totaling $2,500 or greater made to your new personal checking account within the first 90 days after account opening online; and 2) your account must be in good standing once the above conditions are satisfied.
- Then your $250 reward will be credited to this open account on the next business day following the 90 days after account opening.
- Your qualifying direct deposit(s) needs to be an electronic-type deposit, similar but not limited to, paycheck, pension or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or other affiliated depositors.
- Offer valid for new personal checking accounts opened April 17, 2017 through June 17, 2017.
- Offer subject to change without prior notice and may be terminated or extended based on response.
- Offer does not apply to multiple checking accounts.
- Existing FNB checking accounts or accounts converting to another personal checking account are NOT eligible for this offer.
- You can receive only one new checking account reward related offer per household per calendar year
- Bank employees and members of their household are not eligible for this promotion.
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
The easiest account to keep fee free is Freestyle checking, there is no monthly fee as long as you have eStatements enabled. There is an early account termination fee of $50 if the account is closed within 180 days.
Our Verdict
If you’re targeted then this is obviously a great deal. The real questions are:
- Is the promo code unique? If not, can anybody open online and receive the bonus or do they have a list of addresses they sent the offer to?
- Can anybody just go in branch and open the account and get the account without the flyer?
If anybody received this offer can you please send a copy of the offer to [email protected]? Thanks in advance. You can view all the bonuses we currently recommend by clicking here.

My bonus posted as well on the 91st day. Was not targeted, but opened in branch by saying about the promo and the applied.
This bonus posted today. I was definitely was not targeted. I took the code right off DoC’s site. Used Barclays savings for DD.
How many days did the bonus took to post after your direct deposi?
Just 15 days after second deposit and 90 after account opening.
Update #2: I went into the branch on Route 306 in Mentor. I opened an account with the code, and the branch manager called me back a day later and said I was “not on the list” for that promotion.
So, bottom line, you definitely have to be targeted. I won’t be doing this bonus, even though the bank is right around the corner from my office.
I went into the branch on Heisley Road in Mentor, Ohio. I did not have a mailer but I had the promo code written down. The skittish manager would not open an account for me with the promo — she had to check with marketing. She could not get a hold of marketing on the phone. So I left without opening an account. Just FYI.
Thanks for the info
It looks like you could potentially open out of state. The drop down menu has all 50 states listed.
I see that there’s no data points for the direct deposit. Any ideas on what might work?
When I click on the page for Branch/ATM locator, I get a pop-up alert from AVG Antivirus Free that says “threat secured”. Threat is said to be within https://code.metalocator.com/ but when I run the antivirus scan it shows nothing. It did the same thing a couple of weeks ago.
Another question. This offers says one per household. The mate has a different surname and phone number, same address. Are we one household? Thinking of saying his address is not 1005 State like mine, but 1005 B State. The B could stand for basement where he usually lives anyway.
Might work but YMMV.
I opened an account online after getting offer in mail for the $250 promo.
How would I know if they accept ACH as the $2500 DD? This would be easiest for me.
Can anyone confirm if this is targeted or not?
Got my account opened in branch without mailer. When they opened they had a question on thier screen ‘is there a promotion offer/something like that”. When they said yes, it gave a bunch of drop down options. One of them was 250 offer which auto printed the code as mentioned in this post.
So i guess, one could go to branch and open to be safe if not targeted. The banker also said he is almost positive that they don’t verify the actual address, etc. Will see what happens.
“One of them was 250 offer which auto printed the code as mentioned in this post.”
Do you mean the same code “AM2500417”? If yes, promo code of this offer is not unique so I can use the same one to open an account online?
Yes, same code. I guess you could open online. Not sure of the end result though(actually getting bonus). We need DP for it.
Hmm thank you for confirming. I might give it a shot and report back. Their freestyle checking is easy enough to be fee free.
