Anyone else having issues with debit card Amazon reloads? I keep getting this error:

Authentication Failed

The authentication information you provided does not match our records for this card. As a security precaution, this card cannot be used to complete this purchase. You will be automatically returned to the online store so that you may enter another form of payment or click Continue to process now.

Please call Truist for assistance.

Then I get a button to update payment information, and when I do that, sometimes the payment goes through, sometimes it is cancelled. Seems pretty random, but the above error is always popping up. I verified my Amazon account and address matches Truist to the letter…

Limited to funding of $250 now. Funded account with $250 using Chase Business United. It counted as a cash advance with a $15 fee.

mangorunner,

I just checked my Truist Offers page to see if there was an update. I clicked on the $400 offer for the 1st time and noticed that it shows “Enrollment Date : 4/12/2024″. This is very concerning as I opened my account weeks before that.

Can you check your Truist Offers page to see what it shows for the “Enrollment Date”? I am hoping the 4.12.24 date is simply the date that the offer got added to the website rather than when the offer actually was applied to my account.

If it’s the latter, it would mean that all of my debit purchases (and DD) that I did before 4.12.24 would be null and void.

Mine has shown “Enrollment Date : 3/15/2024” since my earliest screenshot. I opened the account on 3/13/2024. I know that is a disappointment for you. Good luck with getting it fixed, Eric.

mangorunner,

Thank you for the quick response.

Before I knew that you had replied to me, I thought of checking the status of the $500 offer that I did in 2022. That enrollment date is 8 days after I opened the account. If I had thought of doing that earlier, I wouldn’t have even made my initial comment.

So despite what you thought, your DP is actually a good thing. This all but confirms that the date shown on the Truist Offers site is the former option in my initial comment, which is a good thing.

I am stunned that your offer got added to the “Truist Offers” site only 2 days after account opening. I guess Truist likes you more than they do me.

That’s not a surprise as you always seem to provide very helpful comments and good commentary.

Well, this is a strange one. I think I met the requirements on 4/02/24.

March 23 – transferred $501 from Affinity FCU Saving which was posted on March 26 on Truist as Person-to-Person Payment
April 2 – completed 15 $1+ Amazon reload
April 4 – tracker changed from Enrollment Pending to Qualification Pending

As of April 22, none of the requirements have the checkmark in the Tracker.

I plan to do a real DD as I’m not confident Affinity counts as DD.

When opening the account on 4/19, I funded $50 with a Capital One debit card…that transaction has posted from Capital One’s end, but I don’t see it at ALL from Truist…not even as pending, upcoming, anything

I also signed up for the offers page from one of the links before using the same email and everything, and it’s not showing up under my offers (not even enrollment pending, just ‘learn more’. But based on comments below it seems like I may have to wait a bit before seeing it?). I’m honestly not too worried about the tracker part, but am about the transactions part, because the last time I’ve had that happen with a new bank account (w/regions), they had soft-closed my account automatically due to fraud/identity issues. Should I wait it out or is it worth going in-branch to clarify?

I would wait a few more days for the funding to show up and then if not, I would call in to inquire about it. You shouldn’t need to go in-branch about the issue.

Thanks, looks like it finally showed up! Offers saying enrollment pending too, with enrollment date of 4/22. I’ll complete the requirements and check back in if anything goes amiss, I appreciate your response!

John,

Now I am really envious. 1st, I find out that mangorunner’s offer appeared in 2 days and now I find out that yours appeared in 3 days.

Cash App reloads did NOT count as debit card purchases per the tracker. Luckily there’s still plenty of time before the 90-day mark

4/8 – Account opened with $50 funding from Chase.
4/8 – $518.32 push from Chase
4/12 – 15 $1 Amazon reloads
4/19 – Bonus posted

Less than 2 week turnaround on this one. Great bonus!

Tried to open an account for my mom. Kept getting code 130 and then got code 230. I don’t know why the site worked for me but not for her.

Opened account on March 12 (over 5 weeks ago) with promo code TRUIST400DC24. Still nothing showing on offers page. Just chatted with rep who was of no help as to why it’s not on offers page. Have done debit card transactions and ACH from Fidelity (which has worked in the past). Account opening confirmation shows the promo code as being applied but chat rep says she can’t see promo codes from within the account. Am going to try another funding source next week and see if that works. ï»¿ Last had account back in 2022.

is anyone able to even open an account here online without going into a branch? It keeps telling me they “cannot verify my application information through digital process” whatever that means

Yes, many of us successfully opened our accounts online.
