Our Verdict
SYWR points are good for Sears/Kmart. Previously they were offering $2 in points, so they are just doubling that for the duration of this promotion. You might also be able to get an additional $1 cash back per ride with Ibotta. Both should work when using your American Express Platinum credits as well. I’m not sure if using Uber Plus passes will trigger the $4 in points or not (update: does work). This should help people to discount their Uber rides.
Hat tip to No Mas Coach
I got an email from them saying that linking wasn’t working with an invitation to try again, so my previous DP about rides paid with gc might not be valid.
Any data point on whether paying by giftcard will trigger the shopyourway $4 points?
Rides paid with GC don’t seem to trigger the credit.
Ugh. That makes this totally useless for most of us. Thanks for adding the DP.
How long should it take to post?
My husband commutes by Uber and this has been a freaking bonanza, especially this summer with the shortlived SYWEverywhere portal. This summer we did a kitchen renovation and the microwave and dishwasher were FREE (FYI SYWR are redeemable at Sears Outlets) and the range and fridge were heavily discounted. Other non-crap stuff we’ve “bought” for those looking to burn points.
-Lands’ end accepts SYWR as payment and their clothes are very sturdy, albeit cut large
-Keekaroo height right high chair
-Pyrex glass containers
-Evenflo glass baby bottles
-Knitter’s Pride knitting needles
-Melissa and Doug toys
-Carter’s brand baby/toddler clothing
-Children’s board books
-Crayola products
-Learning Resources toys
-Board games
From what I can tell, they’ve been losing vendors. Everything by Dorel (kids’ furniture manufacturer) vanished for a while. I got a really nice organic crib mattress, but they don’t carry that line any more, etc. I don’t know how long the bonanza will last, but I’ve got half a closet of toys stashed for my children for the coming winter and holidays.
Love hearing stories like this, thanks for sharing Margaret.
I used Lisa’s link. If this is working as a referral conga, here’s mine: [link removed. I’m not sure why you thought it was acceptable to share your link here. Read the rules.]
Just realized this post was attributed to Jon and Ben, and I’m currently in their workshop. Love that.
Is anybody actually seeing the $4 per ride? My points from my rides yesterday posted, but it was still just $2 per ride.
Same here. If it doesn’t get fixed I’ll be on the horn with customer service tomorrow.
Is anyone else seeing the referral offer?

So if you’re 2 player mode you can get $6 per ride?
It’s just a one time $2 for every successful referral and not for the rides they take.
What’s a good way to burn SYW points? I see it excludes food unfortunately, and I don’t really need any cheap K-mart crap.
Use them at Lands End.
You can use them on food at Kmart and sears
I bought $30 in starbucks k-cups through shopyourway website. Shipped via Kmart and I went ahead and paid the $8ish for shipping to save a trip to the crappy store in town.
This used to be my favorite rewards system. Sears had free shipping and I ubered enough to get something for free every month. But when they added the 30 dollar minimum for free shipping, and I stopped ubering at least weekly, it became more of a pain in the butt. Now it’s sort of like store rewards, nice if I can strategise, but I’ve let points expire rather than pay to redeem them.
