Uber has announced that starting August 4th both Platinum & Diamond Rewards members will have price protection on a route benefit replaced with 10 rewards points for every dollar spent on UberX rides between two locations you set as your favorites.
Diamond members will also have 3 Free Uber Eats Deliveries replaced with Double Points on Uber Eats. Complimentary upgrades will also be replaced with 6 reward points for every dollar spent on Uber Black and Black SUV.In June Uber removed the $5 cash out option. This makes the diamond and platinum levels basically worthless. Now the top diamond perk is what, the ability to talk to an actual support person when you need to?

Shouldn't surprise anyone, Uber got hammered by Covid on the ride share side, and the sales growth on eats comes at a loss since they offer incentives to get people to use the platform, but doordash and GrubHub have trounced them in some markets. Losing billions was ok when they were showing growth, but now shareholders are thinking of abandoning then as Ubers future looks bleak unless a breakthrough in self driving tech comes quickly.
