United Removes Partner Award Chart

United removed award charts on November 15th from its site, United claimed that partner awards would remain the same price and the partner award chart remained on the United site. Today the partner award chart has been removed from the United site. This is part of United’s move to start dynamic pricing for these flights. It seems like airlines are trying to usher in as many negative changes as possible at a time when the number of customers is at an all time low.

  • Soon, it will no longer make sense to obtain frequent flier points. We will all just switch to cashback cards if consumers stop receiving on or about .02/point. Why bother collecting FF points if we have greater flexibility with cashback?

  • Dropped United and Star Alliance a while back and haven't been happier. Too many shenanigans over the past 20 years

  • Redeeming miles for partner J awards was one of the last good uses of United miles. Hopefully they mostly stick with the current award chart prices for partner awards for a few months so I can burn my last United miles on a few trips for next summer and fall.

This is also a big devaluation of Chase UR. Now the only useful exclusive transfer partner for UR is Hyatt. All the airline partners are either useless or also available with MR/TYP. Chase really needs to step up their game but I doubt that happens.

    • What's wrong with Southwest? It's my local hub and I fly them just about exclusively domestically.

      • Southwest is fine, but transferring UR into Rapid Rewards doesn't carry the same potential upside as transfers to UA for partner premium cabin redemptions. Since UR (via CSR) have a travel redemption rate of 1.5 cents per point, it can often make more sense to just "buy" a SWA flight with UR versus doing a transfer.

Rapid Rewards correlate closely to cash prices whereas award charts don't.

        • Some of us aren't after luxury. For me it's not about the most value, it's about the most experiences.

      • You are right, there is some value in Southwest, so I guess that's really there only decent exclusive airline partner. With Southwest though, they have a solid point per cent value but nothing that lets you get great value for your points and no airline partners, so even that is limited.

  • Idk if anyone on doctor of credit looked on United.com but i just went on now and I see partner flights at the same 70k in business class redemption level. I was looking at ORD TO MUC on sept 15th. So you may wanna Check the flight your interested in and you may wanna book ASAP if things are changing, it will happen soon I’m sure.

  • Just applied and was approved for the 60K united offer... any chance I could cancel my card and not have this impact my 5/24? Should’ve applied to WOH like my gut told me to!

    • No. 5/24 counts closed cards as well as open cards. Closing a card does not make it stop counting toward 5/24.

  • Brutal. Recently transferred UR for partner J award which we ultimately did not take due to covid. Now I’m gonna be stuck with devalued MP.
