  • DP: These DO NOT work for paying Estimated Taxes. My new Vanilla VGC was declined at both IRS-contracted payment processors, as well as denied from being added to my Paypal account. Vanilla CSR told me the reason for the decline is that the merchant does not allow prepaid cards.

This contradicts some older data points where Vanilla VGC used to work for 1040-ES.

I have requested a refund from Vanilla, which will require me to follow a litany of instructions given to me over the phone.

    • they do work in all supermarkets. In the northeast, Shoprite,Acme,Stop and Shop. never a problem at these stores.

      • My bad!! Did not realize you are using EGIFT cards. They work for me at local diners and Italian rest. takeout orders for food over the phone and then pick up.

    • You seriously could not find any other bill to pay with your $110 worth of Visa gift cards that you got for $105?

      • Not a $100 card. Anyway, it's just a DP. It looked like an attractive method to pay taxes but it's not.

  • Anyone tried today? I tried to check out both visa egift cards or visa virtual account, but nothing works with VGBONUS24..

  • Anyone had issue placing order this morning? I tried twice and failed. My credit cards have never been declined anywhere before.

  • There doesn't seem to be a limit to this offer. As long as I can find ways to liquidate $100 and $10 Vanilla e-Visa cards, this is essentially about 4.6% off on everything?? That's wild.

    • Yea its 4.6%. Great deal if you know how to ms it, since you can also get the cashback with your cc.

Technically there's no limit on the parent platform of vanillagift but I've gotten soft banned after a high amount of spend. I tried calling customer support and their it department said they unblocked me but I'm still blocked lol.

      • I just bought another $100 e-Visa few minutes ago. Haven't gotten the e-cards yet since that takes time, but my transaction went through.

    • It's really hard to liquidate these. And discounts that bring a prepaid card below cost are deals we've seen for years from giftcards.com/giftcardmall, ect.

  • Breakpoint for the fee seems to be at $250, so that might be better than doing $100, FWIW.

        • @guest_1964148 It would appear that way. Sucks. Would require a lot of work to get the necessary cards I need for my taxes... and I'm not sure my bank will like 20 purchases of the same amount.

  • nt worth the effort. seems to be egifts with the 4.95 fee and even if a physical card, shipping for 1.95? Correct me if I am wrong. Then hard to use at most online places
