Our Verdict

There was a similar offer for June at Walgreen’s. This offer is even easier since there’s no minimum spend – just any Apple Service purchase – and you get the $50 cash. Previous to June, no signup bonus was being offered at all.

Now the race is on to find the cheapest Apple Service purchase. I’m sure there are lots of Apple Music purchases which cost $.99 or even less.

  • Another DP for not being able to match the offer. Opened the card on 6/28. Multiple chats with customer support lead nowhere and actually make for a very frustrating experience as they never respond right away and then after they respond and you remember about and try to respond back, you have to go through the menu again and the new rep has no idea what's going on. Lame.

  • Has anyone tried reloading their Apple credit to receive the $50 bonus. Just wondering if it worked because I have an iTunes balance.

  • Why is there any overlap between DoC readers and those who want this card? It seems like a terrible, terrible card, and a $50 sign up bonus doesn't change that.

    • Facts:

DoC users use computers (either desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile).

Apple sells computers (desktop, laptop, tablet, and mobile).

Apple card gives 3% cash back and 0% financing on Apple computers (desktop, laptop, tablet, and mobile).

      $50 is gravy on top.

      You seem confused.

      • @guest_1009025 Those don’t seem like good reasons to get the card ($30 extra cash back over a 2% card on a $3000 computer purchase, 0% financing which better new cards provide across all purchases in the first year, $50 sign up bonus), but I can see how the first 2 would be valuable for people who already have the card and don’t want to open a new one.

And @guest_1008938 makes the excellent point about 2% cash back with no FTF, and in certain countries Apple Pay is accepted pretty much everywhere.

And yes, I was definitely confused, which is why I wrote anything in the first place. I’m less confused now.

    • I see one reason.. No AF, 2%(though limited to Apple Pay) card with no FTF.. small segment but niche nevertheless :p

    • Does it cost you anything to get this, other than a HP which, if you're 5+/24, doesn't matter? No. DoC posts deals for free tacos lol, $50 for no effort is going to be useful for a lot of people. The card has no fees so you can sock-drawer it anyway if you really think its that terrible.

      • @guest_1008859 It's more than a just a HP because it's a card opening, but I understand your point. I waste tons of time chasing free tacos, but somehow I'd never consider this. I find the card offensive, and I've been happily using Apple products for 30+ years. Maybe it's because it's so Apple-like to have the special bonus you get for using the card with Apple Pay be a neutral payout (2%).

        • @guest_1008844 Well then that's your opinion, and your initial comment seemed to generalize it to all DoC readers. Apart from the bonus absence, this card is perfectly okay for daily use, providing above-average cashback (not saying its the best out there for any category). Not everyone finds a card "offensive" if it doesn't bother to provide a legit signup bonus to satisfy their churning habits (a good example of this is Citi DC)..

      • Yeah, we'd cover deals on popular credit cards, regardless. But in this case I think there are people who like Apple products or for other reasons want the card, so this extra $50 bonus is just extra gravy.

        • @chucksithe Yeah, I didn't mean it as a criticism for you covering it, more that I was surprised anyone here is interested in it. I think a sub-$100 credit card bonus would attract zero interest if it wasn't Apple-branded.

  • How am I supposed to pay for anything with my new card if I have $100+ gift card balance? Anyone have any ideas?

  • Does this cause a hard pull and get reported to the credit agencies?

If so, I’m curious why anyone is getting excited about a $50 bonus on a 2% back (at best) card. Doc has posted dozens of cards with better ROI. What am I missing?

  • They have a .99c iCloud storage plan, if you don't already have this, you can subscribe and cancel.

Another thing they did today was that they added a proper web portal to manage the card, which makes this card a much safer suggestion for a first card, as it no longer requires an iPhone to manage/pay for things.

  • Finally! Wonder if $50 is the max we'll see on this card?

FYI, if you have a gift card balance on your account, they will use that credit FIRST for any purchases.
