Our Verdict

Not as good as the recent 100,000 point bonus, but in line with the personal bonus. Personally I’d hold off in the hopes that we see that 100,000 bonus return, but that might have just been due to the pandemic. For now we won’t add this to the best credit card bonus page.

  • Anyone else not get charged the annual fee the second year on this card? Signed up mid-Oct 2020, $99 annual fee charged 10/30/20, that date has come and gone this year and no annual fee charged.

    • The problem is, when is that going to be? Look at how often they adjust offers. This one will probably run 4-6 months. Then go down to standard offer for 3-4 months. Then maybe it goes up to 100k? But probably not. You're probably better off taking this now and churning it again in 18 months than waiting for 100k to come back.

      • Well, I guess I got lucky when I signed up when I did for the 100k offer. While I was in the process of meeting minimum spend, I received an email from Barclay that gave me an additional 20,000 points for $3,000 in spend plus an extra 5x points on eating out, grocery, etc. So in all, I banked about 150,000 points on about $8,000 in spend. That offer couldn't be beat. Remember, the minimum spend requirement at the time was $6,000, so those offers all ran concurrently.

  • it is not good that more and more of these airline cards are requiring that you book with the card in order to get a free checked bag, after getting the bonus it really becomes a worthless card, in my opinion

    • In January, I did the 100K offer with the personal card. Unless they make a good retention offer, I'll cancel rather than pay the annual fee.

    • You don’t need to use the JetBlue credit card to get a free checked bag. As long as you are logged into your account at the time of booking, the system will know you have the credit card and not require you to pay with it.

What IS annoying is that you cannot use JetBlue points on Blue Basic fares.

    • In my, and others', experience, it's not enforced as long as your TreueBlue number is attached. Based on other DPs, I didn't pay with the card in July, and still got a checked bag. Could change at any time, though.

    • Maybe stop checking bags. Save you a ton of time and if you pack smart you won't notice the difference.

        • And he's giving me a bad name! Time to change mine, I guess.

Checked bags are great. Who wants to carry a heavy bag walking miles through airports?
