[Expired] Burger King: New App Users Get Single SourDough King Sandwich For $0.01

The Offer

  • Burger King is offering new app users a single SourDough King sandwich for $0.01

Our Verdict

Basically free food. I imagine a lot of readers already have/had the burger king app from when you could get whopper sandwiches for $0.01. Will add this to the list of way to get free/nearly free food.

  • FYI. I believe this deal to be dead for the time being.

I downloaded the app and the list of offers does not include any such deals. (It shows you a list of current offers even before you signed up.)
I figured I should make sure that signing up doesn't trigger something to appear. I signed up and the best offer shown is a buy one get one free Whopper.

Not a bad deal in a pinch but I typically wouldn't buy at that price.

  • I think that I've finally decided that free is not sufficient incentive to hurt myself and upset my stomach with junk food. They'll need to pay me to eat this radioactive stuff.

    • Someone choosing to take care of the health isn't "unfortunate.". but I do find it a bit silly to come here and complain about all the weight you gained when they "tricked" you into into signing up for the program 20 times.

Admittedly it was pretty easy to get free food on the McDonald's app a good number of times, just signing up for it once.

    • When McD's had free sandwich for signing up for the app a few years back, I signed up like 20 times, but then gained like 20 pounds that month. Fool me once.

  • Worked beautifully. Used four Android devices between the two of us family members and had no issues ordering, paying, or picking up for four orders.

Looks like can just sign out and clear app cache/data to be re-eligible, as the 1c offer reappears when I just loaded the app again. Presumably need a new email address and sign up.

  • I have never tried the BK app but been using the Mcdonalds app for long time for my family when we go out. Man, they devalued the mobile order. Used to be able to take advantage of multiple offer, order one pay and the order next and pay, on and on and then enter the restaurant and enjoy the food. Now you are limited to ONE order at a time. system won't allow 2nd mobile order promo until the first one is picked up. Used to get cheap meal for my family with our mobile order deals. ALSO they did something without notifying us that the app doesn't allow any mobile order at those Mcdonalds we visited before. Just says they are 'CLOSED". LOL. maybe they wanted to punish us for all the mobile order deals we took advantage of.

    • Yes, I've noticed that McD's now has you wait 60 minutes before you can order a deal again. The way around it is to have multiple accounts.

    • Maybe it's the same company that does the free T-mobile Taco Bell App -- I had two phones with the app -- One already had the order in the basket, the other didn't. I went to the restaurant at 9 PM, (they are open until after midnight I think). I'm sitting inside where it was literally 60 F inside, trying to order from the app. The first, would NEVER let me place the order, even though it was in the basket. Then I tried to place the order on the other phone. IT PLACED the order, but it would ONLY place it at the Taco Bell that was 10 miles away! When trying to change the location, it said, "online ordering is not available at the location at this time". Maybe they turn the internet off after 8 PM at that location.

    • Yeah the deals have definitely gotten stingier on both apps. It's been a while since I had a $1 Whopper deal and all the McD's deals I used to use are gone. I guess they got tired of people like me only buying the deals.

  • Anyone know how long we have to redeem once we sign up?

Based on reports from previous offers (Ridiculous redemption requirements and short redemption windows.) I have no intention of being the data point I want to see, until I'm ready to redeem right away.

    • Tapped "Sign Out" and $0.01 SourDough King appeared in 2 seconds. Placed order w/ new email and credit card. Tapped "I'm Here", app froze, no order #, spinning pinwheel for 5 minutes, and then "Sorry! Selected coupon is only available for new users. Please take a look at our other coupons."
Me: Can you ring me up for $1 nuggets.
BK: Our price has increased to $1.50.
Me: Alright, I'll have $1.50 nuggets then.
      BK: Original or spicy?
      Me: I'll try the spicy.
      BK: That'll be $1.
Me: I only paid you $1.
      BK: Oops, oh well.
      Me: Thank you.
BK: Are you #86, we've been calling #86 for 5 minutes?
      Me: SourDough King w/ pickles?
      BK: Here you are.
      Me: Yes!
Logged into credit card, pending charge of $0.01 for BK. I had fun!

  • Use caution with their shitty app. I ordered ahead, then when I got to the restaurant, I pulled up to the drive thru and was told they were closed. I was charged anyway. Their customer service says I need to get my refund from the restaurant, restaurant says they have no idea what I'm talking about. So now I have to decide if disputing an $8 charge on my credit card is worth the effort.

    • Of course it's worth it. Alternatively you could contact BK support and should expect a refund plus some free food for the hassle. This is the type of service issue that deserves it.

      • I contacted BK support immediately. They told me there was nothing they could do and I needed to contact the restaurant or dispute the charge on my card. Completely useless.

    • Honestly the CC will just give you the $8 if you dispute it. it's not even worth their time to fight it

  • 970 calories for 1 cent, very efficient.

I remember that Amex Gold rounds transactions to the dollar then awards 4x on dining. But I forget if they use an integer round up or integer round down function. I hope it is round up such that the 1 cent transaction awards 4 MR. haha
