List Of Free Food Opportunities

There is nothing worse than being hungry and sometimes funds can be extremely limited. This post aims to list ways to get free food from various promotions. Keep in mind if you’re really struggling there are supports in place and you should never be too proud to visit things like food banks and reach out for help in general. Additionally the best food is always the food you don’t pay for, so if you’re also just exceptionally ‘frugal’ like myself then enjoy these. Share any others you know of in the comments.

Nationwide

These deals are either nationwide, or available in a lot of states. If a deal isn’t available in your state, let us know and I’ll add it to the list of excluded states to make things easier for everybody.

State Specific

These deals are restricted to a few states

Grubhub is the best. Someone said if you sign up with a new email address every few weeks they send you a new discount code.

You can do this with some resturants as well. Ill use starbucks as an example.

Sign up for a starbucks account the day before and designate the next day as your birthday. Usually starbucks will give you something for free on your birthday.

There are lots of places that gove away free stuff on your “birthday”. Just gotta know where to look

Dave
Dave

This is theft.

Dylan
Dylan

If this is considered theft, then the manufactured spending most of us do on this forum is also theft because much of it specifically violates your cards TOS.

If I go to an office supply store and get 5% back on my simplycash when amex’s TOS says I should not, then I have just stolen money from amex in the form of cash back.

Same thing applies to the barclays uber card. They have terms that specifically preclude individuals from MSing, yet we do it anyway.

In a way, we are lying to credit card companies and hoping they never find out about our actions because if we told them what we were doing, it would be against their TOS and they would shut us down.

In both situations, you are attempting to game a system by covering up your activities and hoping you fly under the radar. Giving a ficticious Bday for free food is not different than MSing because in both circumstances, the terms and conditions specifically exclude it. With MSing, you are lying about what you bought to earn points and with this, you are lying about your Bday for free food.

What’s your point? You’re not wrong about any of it. It’s fraud and how far you take it is up to your conscience.

Eric
Eric

I don’t agree with what you wrote.

The credit card company does not state you cannot buy gc with the card. They just say you cannot earn 5% on gc.

If you buy gc and receive 5% you aren’t technically lying (although some people would say this is wrong). If the credit card company calls you up and asks if you bought gc and you say you didn’t then you are lying.

In the case of giving a fake birthday you are lying. What you are doing is not much different than taking a pastry from the shop without paying for it.

Would you do that? I bet you would if you knew you wouldn’t get caught.

Also, if you got a Simply Cash and don’t own a business it means you lied on the application, which is even worse than the other examples.

You guys are both wrong. The b-day gift can only happen one time per year, so no matter what day it is doesn’t change the fact that it’s only one b-day gift offer per year. Therefore, the date itself is irrelevant, and it’s not taking advantage of anything.

Now, it’s the app’s fault if the IT department is not smart enough to track signups… in order to prevent guests from signing up more than once.

However, if you have more than one device, you have already paid into the system; and, furthermore, you are free to join whatever marketing club is on offer.

By the way, the marketing works. The more freebies you get, the more likely that you’ll eventually get hooked on said establishment… and ultimately become a viable customer.

This is the free market economy; and by the way, there are fat cats with grossly excessive amounts of resources, well beyond their fair share… that have been appropriating a lot more than a free pastries from the rest of society.

To Dave’s point, use of someone else’s birthday and identity to deprive that person of their free birthday item is identity theft. The real issue though, a made-up birthday or fake identity to deprive Starbucks is theft by fraudulent deception. Regardless of TOS, both are criminally punishable, and repeatedly doing so more than once may even up the charge from a 2nd degree misdemeanor to a 3rd degree felony.

I had come across a “signup to receive free treat the week of your birthday” a day after my b-day, and their system would not generate email for another 364 days. One way or another, my b-day got fudged by a few days, then received email same week. The restaurant asked to see my ID as proof, and gave it to me anyway. Just be honest. I don’t make attempts to disguise my credit card spending either, but violating TOS has civil penalties, e.g., clawback, shutdown.

do the starbucks thing still work? they need you to make one purchase now

DoorDash has better fraud-detection mechanisms. But it was fun when they weren’t. DoorDash doesn’t have any minimum order amount requirements. It has a bigger market capitalization than GrubHub, but is quite slow at deliveries than GrubHub. I do like the fact that DoorDash can even deliver from restaurants that’re unaffiliated with it.

Would like to see how to do grubhub successfully. Its not only email its phone number, and last i tried, name. Tried to fudge the name but then it wouldnt let me use my card…

Hey, del taco is also not in Hawaiʻi. Also the burger King deal is not available in Hawaiʻi (which sucks because there actually are a burger King and McDonald’s close to each other where I live).

Thanks for posting this. Also there are a few sites that list all the free birthday offers, those can help people as well.

Worse for me would actually eating at Chick-Fil-A. Tried it with a free deal and it wasn’t even worth that.

this is probably the most insane comment i have ever read. chick fil a everything from the food, to the staff, to the service, to the cleanliness of the restaurant is leagues above any other fast food restaurant

Why not? I haven’t eaten there in a while but from what I remember the food tasted pretty good and wasn’t greasy.

God bless a corporation that values time more than money. However, the number of times that I’ve wanted to buy Chick-Fil-A on Sunday could have paid for their next restaurant opening. https://thechickenwire.chick-fil-a.com/News/Future-Openings

But on Tuesdays, Chick Fil A has been giving away a free breakfast. Changes to a different menu item every Tuesday. Deal has been active for the month of May. I hope they renew for June. One location scan my app the other one doesn’t.

tuphat

More seriously: I frequent fast-food places more often than I should, but I always check the chain’s app before I order, and usually find a deal that will save me at least a few bucks. I am constantly amazed seeing other patrons — who, let’s say, don’t appear to be as financially well-off (blessed) as me — running up a big bill without even looking for a deal/promo. No commentary offered, just an observation.

Stevil

Always. Check. The app.

For a solid year, McDonald’s gave me a free breakfast sandwich any time one of the local University’s teams won a game. Any team at all. It was insane. Free, no purchase necessary even. I must have eaten a hundred free sandwiches. I have absolutely no idea what genius came up with that program, but you better believe I worked it.

Always. Check. The app.

For 35 to 55 a year, you can eat free daily from the samples at Costco or Sam’s club. Again, not free, unless you already have a membership.

Yoni

Actually you can get in for free – access to the Pharmacy is not restricted to membership or buy or have a friend buy a Costco Cash GC and show it at the door – also will grant you entry (even if it is has a Zero balance Hawxter ).

Costco has insane Mortgage deals esp if your an Executive member, we bought a new vehicle last summer it was about $500 more than what employees pay. Costco wireless has equally insane deals – bought 6 flagships past 18 months on average about $300 net cost after all promos and deals.

Join Ruby Tuesday’s club online and get a free burger on your birthday… nationwide. John 3:16

howie

Nope. Ruby Tuesday’s free birthday coupon states that it is not accepted in Times Square (the only location in New York City) or Hawaii. While I understand that coupons aren’t accepted everywhere, sending out a ‘happy birthday’-‘not for you’ comes off as sucky. Getting nothing would be happier.

Lee J
Lee J

Is it really a restaurant’s fault that you happen to live in one of their (Reasonably) restricted locations?

Honestly, i’m surprised Ruby Tuesday still has presence in those locations to begin with. I do think they should say restrictions like that on their sign up page, so that you don’t have to bother signing up.

McDonalds app using has a McDouble for $1 and also a medium fry for $1. Make two separate orders back to back and you have lunch for $2. Water is free. Best of all, the app lets you skip the order line and go right to pickup. I 100% agree with tuphat’s comment “I am constantly amazed seeing other patrons — who, let’s say, don’t appear to be as financially well-off (blessed) as me — running up a big bill without even looking for a deal/promo. No commentary offered, just an observation.” It floors me when I see people not using coupons or readily available deals.
