Our Verdict
Best offer in the past was 100,000 points. That offer was more flexible as it didn’t have the $250 travel credit but had a slightly higher minimum spend requirement at $5,000. Still worth considering/doing for most people as I’m not sure if/when we will ever see that 100,000 point offer again. Read these things everybody should know about Capital One cards. We will add this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

I'm running into a snag on this offer. I go to my friends referral link and the 75k + $300 pops up but there is no "apply" button. only a "see if you are pre-approved" button. going through that does not give me chance to apply for this credit card/ offer. Very weird.
"You can’t already have a Capital One credit card." Do they count store-branded cards issued by Capital One like Neiman Marcus and Kohl?
any chance to open referral threads soon to post one?
Isn't $300 yearly travel credit a perk already? Or is this on top of that?
no this is on the 95$ annual fee venture rewards, not the 495$ annual fee venture X
Ah. I see
Waiting patiently for a 100k bonus to come along. Not big fan of the travel credits.
It looks like the referral terms may disqualify most of the referrers:
In order for your friend to get their referral bonus:
You have to apply from this page.
You have to be approved.
You can't already have a Capital One credit card.
This shows when you click the “Make sure to reward your friend” pop up on the bottom of the screen.
So does that mean if the applicant already has a CA credit card, neither will receive the referral bonus?
Does C1 do bonus matches? P2 Just got a Venture last week at 75k... if she messages will they also give her the $300 travel credit?
Typically No.
Per doctoofcredit for capital one policy, the answer is no
I trust my doctor...of credit.
Critical detail I'm seeing in the referral links: the travel credit is for hotels and vacation rentals only.
This is important because often hotels booked through Cap One Travel are more expensive than other sites, which effectively dilutes the value of the $300
Capital one price matches
Price match is a lot harder on hotels than on airfare, given the ubiquity of loyalty program rates.
In my experience, it's difficult to get the price match because there is some slight difference in cancellation policy or some other minor detail. It could just be you get one extra day to cancel or something that's usually immaterial.
I'm currently 1/6 4/12 6/24 and when I log into my Cap One Savor account, it shows I have an available upgrade to the Venture card. Does anyone know if this would mean I would also be approved if I applied through a referral link instead of upgrading? Thanks!
IMO that is not a real "upgrade" what you saw in your account. I see the "upgrade with no bonus" offers all the time in my account too.
That is said, few years ago I received a targeted upgrade offer from the no fee Venture One to Venture X with 75k bonus points. I took it right away. If you see something like that online or in e-mails you can consider if it is worth it to you. That was literally the only time I get such offers from Cap1 in 10+ years.
By the way I applied for the Venture X only 6 months prior to the upgrade offer and was rejected right away. So apparently they have different rules for upgrade and new applications.
I applied a year ago thinking I would be good but denied due to too many new accounts/inquiries. However they keep sending me upgrade offers all the time. Makes me mad because they are fine to upgrade but not to approve me on a new application
That's because an upgrade doesn't involve giving away a bonus. I get offered the same garbage.
Also doesnt increase their credit allocation and risk, win win for them.
I just got this card and offer for only 75000 miles around 1 and a half months ago, is it possible they will give me the $300 credit if I ask?
