In the ongoing saga of point transfers to Emirates Chase has announced that it will not be possible to transfer any longer starting on 10/16/25. Previously we have seen the following happen with Emirates transfers:
- American Express Reducing Transfer Rate To Emirates To 5:4 (Currently 1:1)
- BILT Losing Access To Emirates Transfers On 5/27 Until 6/19
- [Reversed] Capital One: 25% Transfer Bonus To Emirates (1:1.25)
- Chase & American Express Losing Access To Emirates Transfers On 5/29 Until 6/30
- Citi Reducing Transfer Rate To Emirates To 1:0.8 (Currently 1:1)
Our Verdict
It’s never good to lose a transfer partner and lose an option. I suspect Emirates has started charging card issuers more for miles and this is why we have seen these changes but it’s impossible to know for sure.

Could care less about Emirates. But I do hope this does not start a trend!
Start what trend?
There's already a trend regarding Emirates, as shown above, with other banks having reduced the transfer rate to Emirates instead of getting rid of Emirates from their transfer list.
So that fact that Chase just followed other banks, slightly differently, regarding the same airline that other banks had already taken some action against, implies that this is specific to Emirates and not likely a start of changes to other unrelated airlines.

Better that Chase stood up for the 1:1 ratio than roll and see all the other airlines pull the same stunt. Skywards is not a great program in any case. EK drink too much of their own kool-aid.
Seems like only Amex took the new devalued transfer ratio 5:4.
Probably to please businesses that amass points in the 10M+ MR range annually still want to use it for Emirates first class and they don't care about sweet spots or saver rates like the rest of us.
Chase is still pretty strong but getting Korean back would go a long way.
Brokers go brrrrrrrrr
Spelling error in page above?
Should "... started charging card issues ..." be "... started charging card issueRs ..."?
Fixed, thank you.
maybe Emirates isn't charging more for the miles but instead decided to jack up the "taxes and fees" they impose on the banks similar to how they fleece passengers trying to redeem award flights
NOOO! my A380 golden showers...
I apologize… for nothing!
Not a big loss at all.
Curious how and what’s the alternative now to fly on emirates? I suppose one can book via aircanada Aeroplan.?
True, at least I am not a business traveler and their award redemptions are poor and tix are expensive
